Space Saver Spare and Impact on Rear Cargo

In another thread, I mentioned I was ordering with the space saver spare and someone asked me whether I had seen if it impacts rear cargo space. I had a chance to observe both cargo areas at my dealer today. It does impact space, somewhat significantly. I'm still going to order it. But I thought you might be interested to see a photographic comparison of with and without.

The first two pictures are the space saver spare cargo area and the second two are the standard cargo area. I measured the elevated area (admittedly with my phone) and it's 3" higher than the standard one, all the way to the seats!

NB: the space saver car was an X3M while the standard was an X3 M40i

I have the space saver on my just delivered X4M40I and the floor is flush, not raised like in your first photos. This has been discussed numerous time before as the X4 is wider and the spare is not as intrusive. Their is even a small hidden storage area next to the tire.
