Wind Noise
I picked up my 2022 X3M Comp last fall. I have loved it except for the wind noise at highway speeds. I couldn’t locate the source, but while washing her this weekend I discovered a gap in the seal around the sunroof on the passenger side. It’s large enough I can put my finger in it. I have attached a pic. The drivers side gap is much smaller.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Was the dealer able to willing/ able to correct it? I will be making an appointment for a oil change in the next few weeks and want to know what to expect when I ask the dealer to look at it. Thanks |

I started to notice increasing noise from what sounded like the sunroof in November last year.
I have taken it into the dealer and they have confirmed that it is "not right" and it is booked in to be fully investigated and hopefully fixed next week. The only comment the technicican made was that "the X5 suffers with these seals as well," but am not sure what that ultiamtely means. I've checked my gaps and they are not as big as yours. The first picture is my driver's side, and the second is the passenger side. Mine is a UK spec car, so driver and passenger sides will be different. James.

Common issue... I've had mine replaced twice now under warranty.
There is a whole thread on this: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2034267

Thanks guys. I wasn’t sure if I would get any push back from the dealer.

Best thread.... After reading this I checked my pano and found (see pic 1)
https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/attac...1&d=1712174478 After some research I found this Bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...44239-0001.pdf Called my local dealer and because I'm under CPO they wanted an hour of labor to diagnose and were two weeks out. The part number for the seal is: 54-10-5-B32-973 The dealer price matched it at $46, and within 15 minutes I had it installed and the wind noise is SOOO much better and I'm sure it is much more water tight. I used BMW Gummi-Pflege Rubber Care - BMW (83-19-2-449-390) to lubricate the "track" the seal is mounted on and it slid right in place. I did apply two small beads of the adhesive to the seal per the bulletin. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/attac...1&d=1712175077 |

Glad this thread popped up. I have also been noticing wind noise the past couple weeks and swear it was never there before. I'll have to check my seals and report back after work.
Edit: Well there doesn't seem to be any sort of gap in that seal on my '23, so maybe it is coming from elsewhere, but I checked and really couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm going insane lol Last edited by BlauHouse; 04-05-2024 at 02:06 PM.. |

My 2020 has about an 1/8" gap on both sides, so will remove it, stretch it and then re-apply with the adhesive. Just curious, did yours have any adhesive on it when you removed the original one?
