LMAO... that must be the worst beamer comparison video of all times... when they started comparing the performance of these two cars by counting the acceleration in manual in the fourth gear (while both cars have completely different gear ratios), I almost fell off my chair...

I like Joe but yeah that wasn't his best work at all. I wasn't overly critical in that thread where he got shredded because he's a YouTuber and not a real automotive journalist as stuff like that is more for entertainment.

Yes the ride is firm ( not firmer than my old 6 Gran coupe on 20" ), yes the mpg is a bit higher compared to 40i ( not by much ) but overall the kit that you get is way superior? From the standard package / seats / engine / looks...
The only regret I have is that the car doesn`t have ID7 and live cockpit pro.
agreed, had one for two weeks and it is a great vehicle easy to drive and to use its power but not special. The steering on the X3Mc is one of the best I have ever experienced on a BMW. Tight, precise, and the engine when it sings is amazing. Coming from a X5M I thought for sure I would be disappointed and the driving and performance do not disappoint. The interior is not as high end as the 5 and that is to be expected but coming from a vette you will be impressed. Great seats, but meant for smaller thinner people. Drive it and make your own impression.

I don’t know, some of these youtubers put out some useful info, like this guy who is nothing but a snot nose punk, getting a fully stock GT500 mustang to do a quarter-mile in.....the same time that Car and Driver did? Bullocks, impossible I say! They are liars!

Maybe that's the difference - Autocar base their timing on road tyres and road conditions, not super hot and sticky tyres and a drag strip with equivalently sticky surface?

I understand how the M cars can be a bit much for a daily driver. I think the x3m looks a bit better but as stated the rough ride of the M would detract from a comfortable daily drive.
Just as I did, I would recommend you drive one. Depending on what your expectations are, you may find out it's not bad. And, as others have pointed out, it's a hoot to drive!

What’s all this guff about an X3MC being a head turner? Maybe in the US where BMW sales per head of population are much lower than in Germany or the U.K... where I live head turners are Astons (barely), McLarens, Ferrari’s, Lambos etc. To be fair I live where a lot of Man City and Man United players live. Pretty much no BMW is a head turner here. Perspective.

Same here in Southlake, TX. If you go to Southlake shopping village, you are an also ran if you drive a Merc, Range Rover or BMW. Strangely, though, I don't see many super cars. I did see a Lambo SUV the other day.

The X3M being a head turner is a bit of a stretch. In America, SUVs are all over the place, and there’s a lot of nice ones also, but the only real head turners are high end German CARS, Sports cars, and maybe a Lamborghini SUV being the only head turner SUV here. Not saying they don’t look nice, but people aren’t getting whiplash checking out a BMW SUV.

I agree. Objectively look around in traffic and the X3, while a nice looking CUV, er SAV, doesn't really stand out among the sea of utilities out there.

Actually I see the X3 of any version as a low profile car. Even the “slow” M40i/d is a Q car that doesn’t shout performance but it is fast....that for me is a strong positive.

I wouldn’t doubt that is the case. But that’s why C&D is the benchmark because every vehicle they test is under the exact same conditions, so it is great to use not only as a best-case scenario (as the manufacturers numbers are), but also as a way to compare vehicles within C&D’s tests. Who compares car acceleration times on possibly shitty roads/shitty tires?

Coming from an F80, I thought long and hard about the X3M/C. However, for my purposes, I wanted a break from the ALWAYS ON nature of an M car. The M40 is a perfect balance between comfort and sport. I could not be more pleased. But who knows? In 3 years maybe the LCI X3MC will scratch the itch all over again.

So true. What a color! The X4 M40i crowd can get Flamenco Red in the US, though. So that's something.

Isn't the X3 LCI update due for the 2022 model year? About 1½ years away.

I was only suggesting that by the time my lease is up in 3 years, the LCI will be on the market. Haven't kept up so much with X3 LCI timing, but MY2022 sounds about right.
