I really wanted to give him my order as he was really good trying to get me a test drive and the good press he gets on the forums. But he couldn’t match drivethedeal at the time I ordered. Shame

I don't think you'll have any regrets buying an X3. I've bought my first SUV (G01 X3 3.0d M-Sport) in the past 2 weeks having had a M6 Gran Coupe for just over a year and saloons (5 series / Jag XF) prior to that, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the X3 ownership.
I test drove an X3 & 530d touring back to back and both my wife and I preferred the higher riding position of the X3. The X3 is a good 30cm shorter than the 5 series so easier to park at maybe the expense of a luggage space or rear legroom The X3 handles really well and the interior fit/finish is very similar to the 5 series. On a plus side (to me anyway) they're a rarer sight on the roads too. |

Yes the X3. To be honest I slightly preferred the X3 as a car to the 5 Series, but was thinking the X3 would be at least £100pm more which was swinging me towards the 5, but as the X3 is actually cheaper it’s a no brainer!

Yes there are regrets. The SUV does everything worse than a sedan except space per lenth for which I had to got with the X3.
Driving position of legs are awkward for tall people on the X3 , seats much better on the 5 series and efficiency on autobahn way better. But for now it was just too long and costly. |

Fair enough. I assume you are not planning on keeping it the end of the pcp, as the lower gfv of the 5 would be a benefit?

It was a beautiful car that got many an admiring glance (or maybe that was me ) but 18mpg around town despite a gentle right foot soon gets tiring (and expensive). I had thought about the M40i, it can rip along at a fair wallop and sounds great too, but the extra cost and still relatively high thirst for petrol made me choose the 3.0d In everyday driving it's got ample oomph and 35mpg around the doors isn't too shabby. I miss the noise of the V8 but not the thrust of it. And above all my wife really likes the X3 too. If there's any M5 or M6 owners reading this and would be interested in purchasing a set of 19" 408M winter wheels - let me know, as I have a set with only 2,200 miles on them for sale. |

If I can sell the wheels for the M6 I think I'll invest in a set of 20" winters for the X3. £800 - £1000 for a nice set of alloys and about £600 for tyres (non-runflat) plus TPMS sensors - still a total of around £1750 though!

I think I might just get tyres like the Conti TS850P and swap them onto the wheels each season. |
