what about iDrive 7.0? New X5 has it. Also, on the BMW web it says, that X5 will make software updates automatically via internet, does X3 has the same feature?

No X3 doesn't have it, X5 isn't out yet and I doubt any other model would get it before X5 but probably next year I would guess?

Aren't they only upgrading necessary HW, and SW, like this one, for the LCI?

Not always the case, the E70 was upgraded to CIC the year before the LCI and F15 was updated to have touchscreen system in 2016, although that never got a LCI

I'm only guessing about next year though they could wait until LCI

Still in the air: USB C replaces USB A
USB-C would definitely be a forward-looking win.

idrive 7 will not be present on 2019 X3. From what I am told iD7 needs the dual 12.3" displays.

So both the touch control display, and the instrument cluster (6WB), needs to be upgraded to enable idrive 7? Okay, thanks!

If you go to My Garage on the bmw website you can type your vin in and track the build. It will tell you the model year.

I'm a bit sceptical about that as full dash display is optional on some models on the G05, I can't see those having idrive 6 and then models with full dash getting idrive 7, I could more than likely be totally wrong but your source may confirm

I guess that's just for NA customers. Let's see if I can open an account and track my progress.
The connected drive site in Europe doesn't allow me to login, I have customer service checking that out for me.

edit: created an account on the BMW USA site but it doesn't accept non-US vin numbers unfortunately Anyway nice try.

I test drove a 2019 X3 a couple days ago and it did not seem to have speed limit info enabled even though it had full nav. Not sure their asking price is quite right as TrueCar says it's about $5k over. I'm also not sure how I feel about CarPlay being a subscription service.

If you drove a 2019, it was an sDrive, and not an M40i or x30i. In the US, I believe the speed limit info requires the same package on the sDrive as the other cars (in addition to Nav): ZDA Driving Assistance Package.

EDIT: We figured it out. It turns out that for 2019 orders submitted in July that had an August production date, BMW was restricting orders to forcibly have ZCV in August production. We tried the same order again today, which is an August order for September production, and it worked. ZDA+ZDB without ZCV is allowed now for all September production, which is how it should be, according to the ordering guides.

The August restriction obviously contradicts the ordering guides.

Dealer guessed it's because August is first month of 2019 production, and BMW probably wanted to pump out cars that had popular packages like ZCV in the first month to populate dealer lots. Could be that since ZCV is so common and popular that they didn't want a non-ZCV car to slow down the production line in the first month.

Literally on Monday, the order couldn't be built our way, and today (Saturday) it could. I just happened to catch this changeover.

All this trouble to have a non-ZCV car! (A non-ZCV car is the only way to get non-LED taillights. Having non-LED rear incandescent bulbs is the only feasible way to change to amber turn signals, as it allows for simply popping in an amber LED bulb.)

NH_F36,

I'm having trouble ordering a 2019 xDrive at 2 local dealers in NY/Long Island with the following packages:

2019 xDrive30i
No Tier
ZDA
ZDB
Mineral White Metallic

Both dealers' ordering system keeps saying ZDA requires ZCV. However, researching the ordering guides and using the 2019 sDrive builder on BMWusa.com has shown that it's perfectly possible to build it without ZCV. (assuming '19 sDrive is representative of '19 xDrive)

Essentially BMW ordering system contradicts everything we know from the ordering guides and BMWusa.

One dealer even sent special request to Germany to strike out the ZCV. Still can't be done. Dealer says these packaging requirements are subject to change, so that's why it won't let us.

Have you heard anything about this change regarding ZCV? Or any guesses as to what's going on?

Thanks in advance.
