X3 shift into neutral while driving!

Our X3 shifts into neutral while driving. Engine dies and a "drive train" warning comes on the dash. No rhyme or reason to when it happens. If you sit for 5-10 minutes car starts and seems like nothing is wrong. Had fuel pump replaced, and new BMW battery in last 3 months. The car ran fine for 12-hour drive to Clemson, SC. Day after long drive car did it again! Any suggestions?

2020 X3, 60k here. Having the same issue with vehicle unexpectedly shift to neutral while driving. Almost got into accident.

Is this a transmission problem or electrical?

You're posting in the wrong forum, this forum is for BMW X3 and X4 Forums | F25 (2011 - 2017) | F26 (2014 - 2017) as the name of the forum implies.

But to help, as a staring point, use a BMW specific scanner to read the error codes.
