IND takes on the 1/4 with the BMW X3M

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Went to the drag strip with our F97 X3M and ran a best time of 11.8 at 116.30 MPH in the quarter mile!

100 octane on an otherwise stock X3M including factory the spare wheel.

This is one fast SUV!

Interesting, for comparison

C&D Tested (threw in 0-60 for extra data)

Stelvio Quad
11.8 @ 117 mph
0-60 3.3

GLC63S
11.7 @ 119 mph
0-60 3.3

Porsche Macan Turbo
12.1 @ 113 mph
0-60 3.5

So I would expect BMW to be around 3.4-3.5 as well

So essentially I will get to watch these entry level SUVs (entry level by size, not quality or options) walk my tuned F80...

good lord these SUVs are getting ridiculous lol I'd be so pissed to lose a drag race against an SUV with a full family in it.

I'm praying they throw the ///MxDrive system in the G80 and not just awd. Doesn't look likely though

More like 700 lbs less

Current one weighs about 3600 lbs without Xdrive and new version will be a bit larger.

I am guessing 3750-3800 lbs while this X3MC tipped the scales at 4520 lbs with sunroof and spare tire.

Having said that I think 3800 lbs or less will still be the lightest weight AWD sports car in its class. Only Alfa RWD will weigh less and i think their next version will go AWD as well. I imagine 1/4 mile times around 11.5 or lower.

IND has answered a lot of questions – measured weight with known variables (spare wheel, moon roof, and half tank gas at AMS = 4,510 lbs) and dyno numbers (546 HP and 496 lb-ft est’d crank) which allow the Sim to now synch with BMW’s reported max 177 mph and Nate’s Drag times (with full fuel tank and known DA of +2388). Still don’t know the combined weight of the spare and moon roof, but this’ll be answered soon as onfireX5 has offered to weigh his X3MC (optioned w/o moon roof or spare) with half-tank fuel when it arrives, and with his drag racing experience maybe he’ll also provide formal drag numbers.

If onfireX5’s weight without moon roof and spare comes in ~150 lbs less than IND’s wt, on paper it will run well vs the competition (including the F-Pace SVR), as it would have an est’d Wt/HP ratio of 8.08, almost identical to the SVR.

Thanks again IND.

I am 100% sure they will use M X-Drive similar to F90M5

It depends. My X5M did the same exact number: 11.83 but trapped 117.5mph
0-60mph was 3.7 seconds.

F90 with AWD weights the same as the F10

If they approach the same weight saving It brings it very close to 1000lbs

Again it's just assumption and hopping they do

For the same price so would I

But when I build it with similar options it's $15,000 more. Can't see how it's worth that.

And only the coupe S is offered in US
