x3m equal length exhaust

Looks like there are MANY common parts between the X3M and the G80 M3. If you look at the undercarriage it appears the head shield around the trans is the same between the chassis. Has anyone tried to fab a equal length cross over and midpipe? Seems potentially feasible, maybe even easy if the downpipe works. I fabricated a equal length for my last M car, might try this on my X3MC

This would be cool, although I am dumb in this area. What does an equal length accomplish vs. a single mid?
