G01 in production - how long for?

I was advised my production week was to be Week 39. We're at the end of Week 37 - I've just had an email saying my car is now in production. How long does it take to get through the build phase? Maybe what they meant was that it'll be build by Week 39.

BTW I placed the order on the 10th, the factory accepted it on the 11th and on the 14th it's entered build. That seems very fast. I still don't know whether it's being built in Spartenburg or Rosslyn - I was told Rosslyn - I have to await the VIN before I can be sure. Maybe BMW are rushing to beat Brexit / WTO, potentially 31st Oct.

I should have titled this My G01 in production - how long for? I didn't intend it to look like I was asking how long the X3 G01 will be around for...I expect that's another 5 years..

It usually takes a couple days to go through paint, then once it hits the production line, it will be done that same day, possibly the next depending on what time it enters.

Is it usual for production to start over a week early? If my car, as I was told is being build in South Africa, I wonder if it's their first M40i....

I know mine was built three weeks earlier than I was told it would be.

My understanding was that M40i's are built in Spartanburg ! Mine was (based on VIN) and is currently on a ship somewhere in the Atlantic heading to the UK

Well, mine has been sitting at 150 for a week and no movement. Granted week 38 just started today.

Interesting. Decoding my VIN the power is shown as 285kw which is 382bhp even though it's a euro spec engine which is supposed to be 360bhp...not US 382bhp.

Maybe add-on Euro kits drag the power down.

Spartanburg

I have order an X3 2.0 xdrive in October with an expected delivery in 3 months, but now (January!) my dealer told me that the car was not produced and that the Spartanburg factory has stopped producing this car with no expecting return! Is it true?? What do you know?

X3 20iX for Europe are usually now build in Rosslyn SA.

I've ordered my 20iX beginning of October and picked it up 2 Weeks ago at the dealership.

Order date: 4. October
Build date: 24. October
Shipping date: 8. November
Arrival at dealer: 16. December

It was faster than usual because it was a dealers preorder which was reconfigured to my needs 3 weeks prior start of production. Otherwise it would have taken 1 month longer

What is the proposed delivery date on you contract?
