I'm curious as to how motivated they are. I didn't receive my Monday or Tuesday update yet. Last I heard they were looking for approval to replace the differential and that doesn't excite me. The differential replacement is a big job that could lead into other problems and others have said it does nothing about the vibration.
I am waiting to hear from Corporate hopefully by end of week .

Monday was a holiday, so maybe you'll hear back tomorrow. As for the Diff, why not let them know what you know which is at least 1 individual had it replaced and didn't solve the issue.

Sounds like they're "trying stuff" until something more concrete comes out of Spartanburg?

Spartanburg is apparently telling them what to do. Last week it was the weights put in it and test drive which did nothing. I tried telling them about the online Forum and was told they don't follow them. ... The overall impression I get when I put in my two cents is "we don't really care what you have to say "

vibrations and steering wheels

SUV's make up 52% of all vehicles BMW has sold this year in North America-the new x3 has been the NO.1 selling car in N.A. this year 7 months in a row-1) they are never going to stop producing them in South Carolina-2)yes, it is there best interest to fix it based on these numbers 3)every other luxury car co. is in negative territory from last years numbers except for BMW-the sales of the new X3's are keeping them profitable and number 1 for the year-4)they don.t want this issue advertised and put this situation in any danger-just my 3 cents from someones who's hands vibrate at 50mph for $62,000

Question for M40iG01 or Mocon; is the vibration more like a shaking steering wheel or more like a slight "buzzing" feeling in your hands?

It is very interesting how high the sales are for the X3 and for good reason! I bought it for 75 plus k canadian because I loved how it drove. I traded in a mint Audi S3 which I absolutely loved!
I always say to my self that when I'm ready to buy a new vehicle I should read forums and never do rather I watch review videos which don't tell you anything about issues.

the best way for this to get rectified is for smart people like one guy who saw our posts and canceled his order. This is the negative publicity that will make them correct the problem. I have been holding back blasting my dealer on social media but I am getting close. It may be true that there are only a few of us in this situation and if this is the case I think we are in a losing situation until there is enough to effect their sales.

For me, it's more of a buzzing. If I let it hover at the right speed/throttle for long enough, my hands could feel a little numb after a while. I actively try to avoid that though.

best way to describe the vibration is a constant high frequency vibration between 80 to 100km/h. I originally thought it was to do with the stupid lane keep assist and disabled the feature. This vibration is more intense and sends it through your body like you will piss yourself. once you go over 100km/h you can hear it in the floor and it pretty much vibrates the entire chassis to the point that you think it's doing damage to the drive line.

Thanks for the added info. Sounds like you can't mistake the vibration for much else.

Sounds like an unbalanced prop shaft from the old days.

I'm not sure it's the same vibration described on the RH drive car although it may be. There's a few different steering components in the RH drive cars with everything reversed in the chassis. I'll see how mine goes with a few more km's.

Breaking News.
well everyone I just received a call from the dealer and they claim to have fixed the vibration. They installed two new rear output drive shafts off a new stock x3 and the vibration is gone. I will drive it in the morning to confirm!

I'll let you know in the morning. If this thread has been a buzz kill you can imagine what it's been like to live the process I'm trying to get my excitement back! I can tell you one thing, no engine I have ever had in a car is as amazing as in Inline 6 in the M40i.
