That's the R8 rim eh!

I was doing some measurements.

So here are my thoughts,

This rim is the same width as the OEM 21", which is 8.5" wide too.

However, the OEM offset is ET30, and if we were to go for ET35, this means that the rim would move 5mm towards the inside.

However, if you were to downsize to 235/50R19 from 245/50R19, you would theoretically gain 5mm clearance from either side of the tire due to the change in the width.

This would mean that the movement due to the offset of the wheel would be cancelled out by the change in tire size.

This is further corroborated by this calculator, so the tire moves 0.05" or 1mm~ further in towards the sidewall, which could be said to be negligible.

What do you guys think?

Will probably work. What’s the center bore for these new 112 pattern BMWs? I’m asking because in the little searching I’ve done I’ve come to realize that the bolt pattern now matches a lot of Audi wheels but I think the center bore might be different.

I checked other G series cars, aka 5 series. Some sites says its 66.6mm and some sites say its 66.5mm. However I asked around and apparently this 0.1mm difference is also negligible since it should be within the margin of error.

So yes, most audi rims should now work, the only thing is the offset....

If you’re concerned you can perhaps find some 5-10mm spacers. Most people use them to give their cars a more aggressive look, but they can also be used to adjust offset for fit.

Just be aware that, if they come with their own longer bolts, the bolt head needs to be compatible with the wheel. The underside of the head can be curved or straight where it seats into the wheel. I’m sure any local tire shop would be happy to sell you the right ones in a pinch.

LOL, never realized they were replica of R8 rims!
Which replica rims are more generic or closer to BMW rims?

I picked up a M40i on Saturday and have been researching Winter setups ever since. It looks like Dealers have just started to offer Winter Tire sets for the G01 - here's the offer from Seattle BMW:

When I get the 340i I'll have to sell the 307 18" rims and maybe 1 winters use of the R2's. But for this winter I'll buy a new set of R2's. They have been great winter tires. But I wonder if the Pirelli Sotto Zero's are also a decent tire. They are about $70/tire cheaper. I've also seen the Michellin Alpin PA4 but not sure if it's available in a run flat and an 18" version.

So, has anyone actually had their winter sets installed yet?
I would like to know what the exact specs are like, including centrebore and all other numbers.
Even my dealer was not 100% sure at this point, might be faster to get answers from online.
Anyone..?

Check the parts catalog:

https://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/search...3+M40iX/USA/36

You may even be able to find the center bore(66.6), if not in the wheel section, the actual part on the car.

For me, it's hard to find 3rd party rims that are 7.5J x 19" ET32.

Yeah to the above 2 posters. Precisely why I'm most likely going to go with a 19x8.5J rim+ 235/50R19 tire. That would most likely cost be 2.2k~ish incl TPMS sensors.

I think that's the most cost effective option without spending 5k on tires.

Yep, that's a bit more normal than 5k. Where are you getting the rims though?

Tire Rack is now showing some 18" and 20" winter sets. No 19" available on the site.

Just a question, for those that went with the 19" setup for the M40i. I don't see any winter tire options for that size on Tire Rack, would anyone know what I can use?

In Montreal try getting quotes from Merson, Gordons and Touchette for quotes. You can bargain.
