i guess you never drove in NYC streets..we have crater sizes potholes that get fill with slush, snow anything u can think of

Pot holes are savage here- but that's not what I mean. There's no elevation change here. You're not dealing with inclines/declines that really tax the traction on an all season tire.

You have an F26 X4 with the 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 staggered setup. The G01 X3 does not offer a staggered setup with the 19" wheels, just a square 245/50/19 setup.

245 45 19 will be fine,

and i believe 19s do come in stagger set up with performance tires and another option for all season tires which are square setup.

i just checked build sheet... doesnt make sense how bmw changes things around. all season is usually square setup and mix performance tire is stagger setup.
Running 245 45 19 wont cause any issues.

The 19" wheel setup on the G01 is not staggered, the 20" and 21" setups are staggered.

If you use a 245/45/19 instead of the 245/50/19 your speedometer will be off, but yes, you could run it but it certainly isn't ideal.

Looks like I'm getting Pirelli Scorpion Winters for my 20" wheels. $240 each. Pretty much the only option!

I may look for wheels in the spring and mount the OEMs to those, not even sure what the offset/pattern is yet.

Just put an M40i on order. I've been switching off winters and summers on my '13s OE 19" wheels. The wheels got scratched up and its a PITA to keep having to go to my local shop every season to get them mounted and balanced. Plus most tire shops won't mount used tires so it is literally just this one mom and pop shop I have been able to go to.. luckily he does it for free because I've bought all my tires from him.

Anyway not looking to keep doing this on the new car when I have all the necessary tools to switch off a separate set of wheels at home. I ordered with the 20s and was looking to run a square 19" setup for winter but it appears tirerack has no winter tires in that size.. 18s are too small does this mean I'm gonna be stuck with a 20" square setup with the scorpion winters?

tirerack doesn't yet have any 20" compatible wheels listed either. Hopefully they can figure out the bolt pattern/offset soon. Would rather have these wheels and tires here before the car comes in. Any thoughts?

The 19" setup is a square 245/50/19 with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV tires on 691 or 694 wheels that are 7.5Jx19.

The 20" setup is a square 245/45/20 with Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires on 669M wheels that are 8Jx20.

I personally might go for 225/55R19 tires on a 19x8J rim.

I think that is the most cost effective choice, plus the diameter of this 225/55R19 tire is the same as the 20" (245/45R20).

My only worry is that the 225 tire would be too narrow for the 8" rim..

Will 225 tires fit 8.5" wide rims? that would be perfect

I have had my winter tires mounted on their own rims for 25 years. It is better for the tire bead but most importantly, it lest me go down at least one inch. With a narrower tread, but more sidewall I keep within a few percent of the circumference. The advantage is that the tire sinks deeper in the snow, increasing the probability of making contact with pavement. It also means that in a pinch, I can do a tire swap in my garage. I do prefer to check balance though and because of potholes, a late spring alignment is in order. I will be putting 19" winters on my X3, either BMW or Tire Rack supplied. I prefer the 691 to the 694 but have had better experience with Michelin tires than Bridgestone.

So what's the rule of thumb for offset.. If it's 32MM, its okay to get higher or lower offset?

The rim I'm looking at is ET45.. is that going to be a problem?

I just noticed something different about that German site.

From the german site, it says that the 694s are 32mm and 7.5J.

Whereas the Canadian specs are saying that the 694s are 8.0J.

What is the correct width?

I believe 694 is just a style, for example you can get the 618s listed as 18” in 17” as well, and there can be different widths and offsets. It is possible that the German package just has 7.5” wide 694s and the Canadian one has 8” 694s.

The part numbers are exactly the same, so I'm guessing the Canadian listing just has the width wrong. As far as I can tell, all the 19" wheels for the G01 are 7.5" in width.
