E92 S65 simply because of the V8 and because there will probably be no other V8 powered M3. As much as I would love to say E30 because of how much of a legendary icon it is, the S55 engine beats me. I miss the sound

All great machines in their own right! E30 M3 is a legend and started the revolution by putting the heart of Motorsport in a road coupe. E36 M3 took it up a notch in everyday livability and power. E46 M3 is a true standout and it still holds up today - the complete package in handling and power. The S65 in the E9x M3 is one of the greatest and raciest production V8s of all time creating the basis for a truly special car. F80 is a monster - supercar-like torque and hp, a technological masterpiece, and perhaps the most trackable stock-for-stock.

I absolutely love my f80 and it can easily be turned into a complete monster and super car killer..but the e46 is a special and raw sports car.
x2 but I kind of have the E46 and F80 at a tie, but would differ to your list for clear winners.
The E90 sound is something forever special and the rod bearing issue is a dark cloud for ownership.

I think I posted this the same day.

I own the e46 and f80, had an e90 in the past, all great for different reasons, I love having the combo of the e46 and f80. If I HAD to own one though, I think it would be an e90. The f80 is brutally fast and better in every category in paper, but it def has lost some character. The e46 is light, chassis feel is spot on, the engine feels like a specially made race derived engine, and it has great daily drivability.

DOes your E46 have the SMG tranny? If so how is it? I've heard so many horror stories about the harshness and reliability.

The rare and illusive E92 with an S55 V8

The E30 is by far the most collectible car in that lineup. One in decent shape is still worth more than every other car in the lineup with exception of the F8x, but give that time and it'll change too. I still love my E90, but driving F80s on a regular basis does make keeping it as my favorite a lot harder.

Clearly you either don't know the history of the E46 when you discuss rod bearing issues on the S65

Hell no, BMW was headed in the right direction but that's gearbox sucks, almost every unit fails and that's a huge job. The two big jobs are the rod bearings and vanos, if you buy a good example, even high miles, and have those issues taken care of, if they haven't been, you'll be golden. It's gonna be an old car so there will be little things that will need attention, but it's worth it to me. I miss the f80 when I'm in the e46, and I miss the e46 when I'm in the f80.

+1 on the ordering! My E46 (SMG) just made me feel so much more a part of the car than my F82 does. Maybe I need to get used to the latter, but I felt in control and able to take it to the limits with comfort. Im a bit of a pussy on the F82 as I cant get the hang on how to control the traction.

1.E92
2.E30
3.F82 - Just cause it sounds awful.
4.E46
5.E36 - If someone gave it to me. Lol.

The F8x does sound really really bad. Every time my neighbor comes by in his it sounds like a Civic with a fart pipe. Really hoping they got it right with the M2.

[QUOTE=M Heart;19122066]

I Loved my E46 M3 in every way from its meaner looks, size, feel, and amazing performance, but I was on the need for 4 doors for the convenience of my growing family. Perfection to me would be if BMW made production of the E46 M3 sedan.

So...m235 gc/sedan? Maybe m2? Though the 235 already has e46m power.

F80 is the best street car and the best track car. The e9x/e46 are fantastic cars. The e30 is a classic and to be honest the e36 is the odd duck I don't care too much for

Great video!!!! IMO the E9x hit the sweet spot in terms of engine, steering, size, performance, luxury.... I wish it was lighter but there are things you can do to shave the weight down to F80 level quite easily, but the overall dimensions of the F80 are too big. I used to think the E9x was too big but seeing it next to the F80 it looks downright svelte!!!
