New UK M40i collected
Well, there is another M40i on the roads today.
So far so good although it’s significantly heavier than my 440i which now passes to Mrs W. Still too early to comment on the performance compared with the 440 with MPPSK but it’s much quieter Will post some more views when it’s fully run-in and I’ve got a few miles under the wheels. Initial thoughts are it’s clearly much bigger and substantially more refined. It’s a step up in quality too. Piano sunroof makes it feel light despite the black leather interior. Think I’m going to love this car.

My X3 is that colour - had no end of friends comment on what a great colour it is.
When searching for an SUV, I had been checking out Caesium Blue F Pace's, but this shade of blue is pure class. Nice one, BMW. |

Looks great. Interesting you note it’s quiet. In comfort mine is quiet but in sport/sport+ with windows down it’s loud. Mine is Feb 2018 build so pre WLTP and no PPF. Wonder how much difference the PPF makes to the exhaust note.

OP, Nice car, and thanks for the pics! I have the same car on order (well US bound so steering wheel on the other side). Same exterior and interior, and I also have a 4 series (435). Right now we have an X5 that the X3 is replacing, but I told my wife I might give her my 4 series and take the X3.. and she said "No way!" (the X5 is hers). |

PPF stands for something like 'particle filter' - it reduces fine particle emissions, same as what was done on diesel engines for a while now. WLTP is the euro standard for fuel consumption I believe.

Lovely, congrats.
But, ahem, they built your M40i with the steering on the "wrong" side.

New method for measuring emissions which came in earlier this year. PPF = Petrol Particulate Filter Needed to ensure cars comply with the standards introduced by WLTP. |

I picked up my brand new x3 M40i seven days ago, same colour same interior.
It’s a fine looking car but isn’t what I was expecting. My reason for buying one was due to practicality and performance,I loved that exhaust crackle and pop and the fact it was very quick 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds. However,it doesn’t crackle and pop, it sounds nice but no rumblings or bangs. Some opinions have been missed too. I specd the car up big time, total price £62.500 or there abouts,it’s really not what I was expecting after watching all those fabulous videos on YouTube. I’m a bit gutted to be honest And not sure what to do. |

Because I wanted the pops and bangs, apple car play, and half the technology pack that’s not on it and some of the driving assist options that are not on it.
Usually when you buy a car that is a fair chunk of money, it should have everything you ordered, and at lest sound like what all the others do. And it says it has 320 bhp on the sports displays. I thought it was 360 bhp as stated in the brochure.? Or am I doing something wrong? |
