Steering wheel off center

I dug up a thread from last year with quite a few hits on this. I just picked my X3 M40i up yesterday and havent driven more than 50kms (30) miles and Im thinking the steering wheel is the tiniest bit cocked to the left when going straight. Alignment seems fine. Any updates on this?

All my BMW's were like this, just slightly off centre. I figured they were all like that

Mine was cocked left when I bought it. Got it aligned and it was cocked right. Wasn't until I got new tires that the wheel straightened out.

I put it down to the flappy paddles making it more obvious

i ended up sorting my F32 myself. just adjusted the track rod ends the same amount. from what i recall 2 "flats" i.e. 1/3 of a turn. Doesnt need much.

I've done this too. One or two flats is usually enough. If the steering wheel is slightly left, pull it into the garage with the steering wheel centered. In your mind both wheels are pointing to the right. Bring both wheels to the left 2 flats and give it a try. If your car is pulling, that's another matter and needs alignment. I also have a toe gauge so I can watch the total toe. .06 degrees positive is what the spec is.

it is easier than you might imagine. Dont even need to take wheel off - turn wheel one way and do that one - turn the other way and do the other. True enough it is trial and error and involves lying on the ground.

as always though - not confident, dont even try.
