Can't configure Damping and Steering under Individual?
I have a M40i with the M Sport suspension option. I just went in to configure Individual Sport driving mode and the Damping/ Steering Options show 2 dashes and won't let me select Sport or Comfort. I'm assuming these should be selectable? Any ideas?

All the M40i SAVs come with the M Sport suspension. Do you have the "Adaptive M Suspension"? The Adaptive M Suspension gives the drive mode options.

I have the Adaptive M Suspension, but when doing Individual setup the steering and damper setup show two dashes. If I click it gives me options of Sport or Comfort but even if I select one it goes back and shows 2 dashes.

Hi,
Have you checked your VIN number against the actual option codes fitted to your Car? You need to have the following:- 2VF - Adaptive M suspension 2VL - Variable sport steering. These are the options that would then allow you to make changes to suspension and steering settings in the Individual settings menus. The VIN decoder that I like best is this one:- http://bimmer.work/ You just need to enter last 7 digits of your VIN and it gives you all the details for your car Cheers Steve

I hadn't realized there was a difference, but I just looked closer and 2VF is standard on the X4 M40i, but it's an option on the X3 M40i.

If you're sure you've got Adaptive M Suspension (and it makes sense that you do since you can 'see' damper control settings in iDrive), there must be some sort of issue with your particular vehicle. I'm guessing that a service visit is in order. Keep us posted on what you learn please. Good luck.

Agree with poster above. Something wrong with this particular vehicle. Should be possible. SW error, or sensor or HW error...

Thanks all for your responses. After not being able to adjust these settings Sat/Sun I decided to take a picture of the issue to send to my service advisor. When I went in there today, the options are active! I will keep an eye out to see if it re-occurs.

It would show — under steering, but when you select Sport or Comfort, the Steering Wheel pictogram on the side would highlight red or grey, depending on the setting. It definitely seems like a bug in iDrive 6.0. |
