What is BDC & ACSM..... what coding dies it allow.
The website doesn’t list the things these 2 ecu will allow to be coded.
BDC - main ECU. Controls most functions, some of which are tied to other ECU's. Examples include drive mode, fog lights, and mirrors.

ACSM - seat belt warnings.

Shame about the need for a different adaptor. They seem hard to get and they aren't as cheap as the Vgate one.

Would be good to know what we can code in BDC with Bimmercode vs Esys.

Easy answer: There will never anything that Bimmercode can do that cannot also be coded with E-sys.

But what can you code with e-sys on those 2 ECU’s on the G01?

Ok thanks, I’ve now got your G01 pdf, but which of those options are in the BDC ECU? It looks like most of what I used to code on FEM on my F30 is now available as standard on Gxx in idrive settings.

The app update has now given me access to the kafas ECU and options for warnings in the HU_NBT_EVO.

This seems like a major FAIL to me. Most folks bought either of the "recommended adapters". If the folks at BimmerCode had thoughts of expanding the capabilities of the program, that required a different, more expensive adapter from Denmark, then they should have marketed the program for that adapter to start with. Instead of dangling this carrot, but requiring a jump through hoops with a second adapter.

Makes you think "Should-a-had-Esys"...instead. And I have the cable already...just thought I was saving myself some aggravation, not having to re-learn how to install E-Sys again on my laptop (laptop that had it before died), and learning how to use it...Plus I like that I can very quickly and easily change things I have changed back and forth depending on the mood (like the Alpina gauges) without having to break out the cable and laptop.

I have coded 90+% of what I wanted. Just still looking to start the car in Adaptive/Sport mode instead of comfort, remove the seat belt warnings (I still use them), etc.

The 3 times pressing the BMW start button is for maintenance mode for 2019 X3 (not sure if 2018 is the same).

It's part of the BMW 2019 that won't allow connection unless in maintenance mode.. After pressing 3 time quickly, it will show on the dash that it's in maintenance mode.
Where are u getting this info???

I coded my x3 with Vgate (VLINK) few weeks ago. I use the same adapter for F26. I have M animation, legal disclaimer off.

Planning on Bimmercode-ing this weekend on my 2018 xDrive30i, quick question that is unclear : I know ASD is activated on a M40i, is it activated from the factory on an xDrive30i? If so, I want to disable it, but don't want to turn something off in Bimmercode that isn't there in case that may cause an issue....

I know that. But it would be good to know how much Bimmercode can do for these ECUs.

You do realize that Almaretto is not affiliated with BimmerCode in any way, right? In fact he has done SOOOO much for the BMW community with regards to helping folks with E-Sys and coding using that software. He has been getting people set up and running on E-Sys for years on the BMW forums. And he is also, I believe, a paid coder - meaning you have the cable, and software, and he can remotely code for a fee.

The fact that Almaretto answers any questions about BimmerCode is above and beyond as far as I am concerned. Especially since using BimmerCode instead of E-Sys could take money out of his pocket...

The BimmerCode people should be here answering our questions...

That's all well and good, but it would still be good to know what can be coded in the BDC module!

I think ASD is only set up on M40i and M40d...

Where can you get the Unicarscan in the USA for the bimmercode app? Looks like it's a German company.

Wondering it's only working on the Unicarscan because he is using this as his test bed and hasn't tested it on other devices... Can't see why Unicarscan works and why others wouldn't.

It definitely doesn’t work on my Vgate 2 wifi. Hopefully he brings the new functionality to all the adapters.

The Android update has no mention of the UniCarScan adapter...
It does however state it updated:
  • Custom value input in expert mode
  • Fixed connection problem with OBDLink adapters

I got to do some coding. I guess I wasn't pressing the s/s button quick enough to get into the maintenance mode.
Anyway, I noticed after coding the instrument cluster with the "M" choice, that the choice to go back to "M40i" seems to be lost. All kinds of other models are there, but no M40i.
Even though the M is nice, I would probably have stuck with the M40i.

Also even though it says it coded the remote fob Long Press to Close Liftgate feature, it doesn't work.

For the heck of it, I coded the ASD off and took a ride. I didn't get 2 miles before I turned around and changed it back on. Boring with it off.
