RG Sport - Spacers on F97/F98 X3M/X4M incl. Competition

Guy,

As you know, I finally received my F97 X3M Competition last week.

This past weekend, I manage to play around with wheel spacers and coding.

I have installed both 11mm and 15mm to see which one that I like that actually looks good on this car.

I ended up with 11/11 setup or 11mm all 4 corners.
I think 15/15 setup is a bit too aggressive. It causes the wheel to protrude a few mm beyond the fender lining.
It may be fit better with lowering, but IMO this car doesn't really need lowering on all corner, just the rear need about .8" to 1" lower.

Also, I uses H&R brand since I trust its quality and fitment. German made.

Anyway, enough talking, here are the pictures.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Side note: 12/12 also looks good. 1mm more than 11mm.

11mm all around.

15mm

I really like the 11mm "look". Almost square to the finder.

It does.

The 15mm from 3/4 angle pokes out.
It looks nice from dead front or dead rear, but not from 3/4 angle.

Looking good - thanks for sharing the images!

With all of the tire and wheel change-outs that folks are doing - can anybody throw a wheel and a tire (or combo of both if doing a complete swap) on a scale?

Would be helpful if we can start amassing a data set of reference weights to enable educated comparison to 'performance' forged options which will be coming. For some, wheel/tire changes may only be for aesthetic reasons so that'll be unimportant, but for others the goal may be to decrease unsprung weight as well.

Why do you need spacers on SUV??? They just will make car much dirty and slower (worst aerodynamic), u can use spacers only if you lower the SUV

Wider stance. Better traction.
Besides, I am in LA, we don't have rain or mud.
So, I am safe about getting my car dirty.

Also, it is X3MC afterall.

Why BMW make X3M or X3MC? It is SUV afterall.
But, it is the perfect car for me since I prefer 6cyl over 8cyl and I am tired driving a sedan or what they call it sport sedan.
So, SUV with High Powered 6cyl. Fits me, even yourself who is in this sub-forum and looking to add more power. It is SUV afterall, right??

I walked the car 10 times, and I liked the 11mm better.

I agree. it is a very aggressive stance but that's how I envisioned it and prefer on a SUV. best thing I did for that is the mud/rock flaps.

Could you please take/show a few more pics of the mud flaps... trying to imagine them on the Alpine White, thx. (I plan on going 15mm spacers all around, upgrading to an X3MC within the next 90 days)

It looks great! I like the squared look and aggressive stance.

I'm debating on doing 12mm or 15mm

If you are decisive, I suggest 12mm.

It is still on the safe side.

I have done and sold a lof of wheel spacers to F15/F16 X5/X6, F85/F86 X5M/X6M, G30 5-Series, F90 M5, G01/G02 X3/X4, G05 X5, and G07 X7.

Thanks for the pics! Silly question (since you've had flaps on several cars)... any noticeable change with aerodynamics or handling at speed?

Congrats on the new X3M!

We agree the 12/12 set up from Future Classic has been popular for the X3M.
