The digital climate control is standard fit on the 7 series, and they all develop small cracks in the screen. Not a problem when the car is under warranty, but I would be upset if I had spent money on this mod for the screen to fail after 18 months.

On the 7 series there are two versions. Standard comes with plastic rotary knobs and then there is a premium version that has ceramic knobs.

I'm told my local parts guy (that seem to know this screen trend) that the replacement parts avoid this symptom. So looks like the newer part #'s are not for sake of just newer #'s but actually has improvement in the hardware.

Nonetheless, soon i'll find out if i run into this problem from using the "newer" unit.

Ok. I'm confused. The G05 screen pictured in this thread seems to be a different shape/size and has more buttons than our lci. What am I missing?

This is only for the Pre-LCIs, totally different shape and size for the LCIs.

My bad, I may have caused the confusion. I was wondering if anyone has swapped this full color climate screen from the G05/G07 for the monochrome one in the LCI F97/98?

Might make more sense to create another thread…

What a cool and easy upgrade!!

Did the install and took about 15 minutes, with being very careful...
1. Remove Center Air Vent/Panel
2. Remove Climate Control
3. Install New Climate Control
4. Replace Center Air Vent/Panel

Here are the TIS instructions:

Nothing fake on my 2020, I have a CD player...
Never used it until today, when I "tested" the slot, but it's there

There is a SKU without the CD Slot, for those who have no CD Player.

A really cool mod that makes the dash more hi-tech looking and should have come this way, IMHO, from the factory.

Is there a link for dummies for this? I really want to do it. Found 2 on ebay but they look a little imperfect. Seem like the same pics for both ebay listings and it looks faded on the top part.

Hi,
Love the change...
While not a link for dummies, I have attached the TIS info from BMW on how to do it, a couple of posts prior to this one.
It's really simple and it only takes about 10 minutes.

Enjoy.

To those that have done this swap with the touchscreen from 5 series, are you removing it and putting back in the original unit before going to the dealer for diagnostic or software update? The swap leaves a fault code in the car saying the car has the wrong variant of the climate control/heating/AC control unit. Just seeing how others are getting by the dealer.
