Nope don't see your argument. The FTP kit for the F30 is the same price. It's a great kit. The VRSF kit is also $350. I wouldn't want a used one. But let me say this. It's not a Honda Civic, it's a $50+k vehicle. You're worried about $350?

I just spoke to Tiago at VRSF and he confirmed F30 parts do fit the X3. Also, you already over paid for the new piece since on the Chinese websites the FTP kit is under $350... wait, you do know FTP kit is made in China right? And just because you can spend $350 on a new part, does not mean you should. It has nothing to do with the cost of the vehicle or what you can afford. X3s are barely worth 30k nowadays. I see your argument though, it makes sense to buy used parts for a $30k Honda and not $50k BMW, who ever came up with that logic

I actually paid more than that for mine. They are entitled to a profit. Yes I knew it was made in China. It doesn't matter to me as long it's made well. I've made custom intercooler pipes before and for that price I can't make them for that in steel, much less in aluminum.

I'm saying if you have the money to buy an X3 then you have the money for buy GOOD parts NEW. Conversely if I ONLY had the money to buy a civic then I'd be scraping pennies to buy mods...

I agree that it is a good quality item, but so is VRSF that has been used for 2,000 miles selling for $100. Many people have money to buy new and expensive things but choose not to because they invest their money elsewhere. I personally hate buying car parts NEW only to loose 20% as soon as I open the box. I used to buy new, never again. I spend my money on things that do not depreciate so fast. Also, if you bought an X3 for $50k and you financed it, I can argue that you did not actually have the money to buy it since the bank paid for it (not saying that you did, just an example). Everyone does what they think is right.

Ultimately what you really need to think about is what are the wear characteristics for the part. Charge pipes or headers have no moving parts other than those that flex so I would feel pretty comfortable with going used if the pricing looks good. My main concern would be around missing/worn pieces or user-induced damage due to improper installation. That said, for a $350 part I would just go with new as it'll come with new seals and flex tubes. For me it is worthwhile skipping the possible hassle of sourcing new o-rings, gaskets, or worrying over the condition of the part.

It's simple, source your used charge pipe whether they state will work with your car or not and if it works then pocket your savings and post/share your results. We already know we can verify matching part number(s) between chassis's from RealOEM.

Here's a link to a vrsf one

http://www.vr-speed.com/performance/...0-f30-n55.html

Let us fellow F25 owners know if you install a CP that is meant for another chassis but same N55

While the FTP kit is more expensive, it does include both the charge pipe and the intake pipe connecting to the intercooler. The VRSF kit is only the charge pipe.

The boost pipe that comes with the FTP kit is nice but is not exactly needed. I've never seen one explode. For me it was less than a 5 minute install and was just a peace of mind thing. So far i've put maybe 7k on my FTP kit and have not had an issue, it is definitely a quality product!

op, you've performed both installs on the f10 and f25

did you have to go under the car for both?

I admit that it was a pain at first. Patience is key.

It was a huge PITA, and took much longer than expected

Taking off the oem charge pipe involved alot of twisting, tugging, and swearing

I wonder if the fact that I am xdrive35i makes things a little harder? There is very little clearance to fit hands in certain places

E90705 , when reinstalling, did you go top down, or did you start from fmic and work your way up? (question for both pipes)

It's been over two years I can't recall, try a combination see what works for you.

Is this purely a petrol engine issue or has anyone with a diesel had this issue?

those of you who did the CP, can you hear more turbine noises while in boost?

I'm wondering if I have a boost leak, or if its just noise thats already been present and I just am now noticing it (first time driving my car in over a month, not sure if its normal noises, or new noises)

You really had a hard time with it? I found it to be much easier than I thought. You can pull up through the throttle body area past the coolant tank as long as you're turning it the proper way with a little tugging, just mind you're not snagging anything like a sensor or wire loom. Had mine out maybe within five minutes or less

You’ve probably checked this... but I had a similar thought the other day... and it’s summer. Is it your HVAC system you’re hearing? Have you tried turning off the A/C and see if the noise goes away?

My funky noise in boost was coming from a/c working hard.

Chargepipe popped at 7k rpm on a 5th to 6th upshift, throttle closure for torque reduction during upshift likely spiked charge pressure and well... you see... rest of the plastic flange pieces are on the freeway somewhere I suspect.

Still drove fine but of course zero boost, no CEL/30FF surprisingly enough but then I did stay out of the throttle thereafter knowing full well what happened.
Thanks for sharing this post as I had the same occur to my wife's X3 under similar circumstances & cheaper and more durable replacement than the OEM part.
