Dealer or Independent Repair Shop Recommendations in North East
Looking for suggestions on where to get the timing chain/oil pump chain replacement done.My 2013 BMW X3 28i is over the extended warranty period ,and is almost 9 years old,so the current court settlement should not be of any help. Just wondering what expense or experiences people have had in getting this repair done. I would like to keep vehicle long term .Any shop recommendations in the northeast are appreciated

I had my timing chain and guides replaced by AUTO BON in Simsbury CT. (The BMW dealer I bought the car from did not catch the fact that the chain was about to self destruct.) They seem to be very competent and fair. They work on high end vehicles.
I will go to them from now on to get normal maintenance when possible. |

X3 N20 timing chain/oil pump chain replacement cost
Thanks for your reply. I have received two dealer quotes so far,and were $3000 apart.I will check the web site out of the repair shop you had your X3 repair at.What did your repair end up costing .I do not expect any help with the recent court case settlement, and wish to keep my X3.The one independent shop ,AUTO BON just quoted me $3800

I'm in Fairfield County and the dealers here quote insane prices for even the most basic of repairs. I'm growing concerned about the reliability of the chain in our 2013 X3 despite it only have ~74k miles on it. I don't mind driving a bit for a reliable mechanic who isn't going to charge us usurious rates for the work. -Eric |
