I have had this happen twice now. I turn the car off like normal, and when I open the door it normally shuts the radio off. I have had it happen twice where I open the door (The car is turned off) and the radio stays on. I have to turn the car back on and turn it off again.
Anyone ever have this problem? I can open and close the doors during this issue and nothing happens. The radio stays on.

I have had it happen several times but once the doors lock it turns off for me.

Ditto. Sometimes it goes off once I open the door and sometimes it goes off once I hit the lock button.

I read somewhere else on this forum that the radio will turn off when you open the door *only if you have the vehicle in "Park" and your foot off the brake.* Since I read that, I do it every time and the radio shuts off every time.

Also, you can push and hold the radio volume button and the radio and other electronics will shut off (just like what happens - sometimes - when you open the door).

Its a setting in bimmer code you can change.

It will stay on if you have an active navigation, it will turn off if not. Or you didnt put it in park and just pulled the parking break because youre used to your DCT, I did that a lot.

Locking the car turns everything off.

Definitely had the car in park when I turned it off, and do not think I had an active navigation as I was at my house when it happened, but that doesn't mean I wasn't coming from somewhere.
I will try locking the car next time and see how that goes.

I have found that if I turn the volume knob down just before opening the door, it shuts the radio off. If I don’t turn the knob, the radio stays on until I lock it. Really strange.

You have to wait a couple of seconds before opening your door. If you shut the car off and immediately open the door, the radio stays on. If you shut the car off and do a brief pause before opening the door, the radio turns off.

If you are too quick and the radio stays on, hold the radio power button and it will turn off, or lock the doors and it will turn off.

This is my experience as well. I keep my foot on the brake until I exit so it does not impact whether or not the radio turns off.

I just give it a few seconds after I shut the car off and before I open the door and it shuts off.

Dumb design - wish the radio turned off when the car was turned off and don't care for the 8 min that the electronics stay on after locking as well.

It is a really annoying design and works just the same as my 19 X5 seems some random sequences of events cause it, seems to happen more with passengers and more doors opening and closing at various times etc, never been able to pinpoint exact causes so have just trained myself to it. I used to just push the volume knob in for a few seconds and that will shut down the screens, but now it is easier I find if I close the door and it doesn't turn off I just open and close the door real quick and it will get a brain and turn off.

Confirmed that locking shut everything off. Had this issue happen again and tried the suggestion to lock the car and it worked!

Has any one had an issue with the phone disconnecting and connecting back while driving..its happen a few time, like issue were bluetooth cant stay connected?

yeah here and there, if you have the BMW app installed that tends to screw with things if you use android auto/appl car play, their coding is a little wonky.

Locking will shut off the radio, but the car electronics remain "On" for about ~8 min after lock.

You'll notice this if you have a radar detector or similar.

Really wish hitting the start/stop button twice just turned everything off like all my other BMWs. Hate that they changed that.

With my car if I shut off the car before opening the drivers door, the music stops when I open the door. If I open the door before I turn off the car the music will keep playing until I lock the vehicle. I think that's the way it's supposed to work.

You can do a long press on the volume know to shutdown the electronics.
Do this after unlocking doors or it lights back up....

I do this in the garage since I leave it unlocked.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal if equipment stays on...lock the vehicle and everything is off, even my radar detector & dash cam. If there are other things still getting power, they'll shutoff within minutes anyway.

I didn't want the radio to be on during the night. It usually goes off when I open the door, just caught me off guard.
