I am getting conflicting reports on Android auto only being on I7 or I6. The Genius seemed to think it would be available on the X3M by the end of the month by programming. I am feeling like maybe that was a line to sell my the car now.

There is zero comparisons between a true Bmw M vehicle M3, M4, M5, X3M etc versus a Bmw M sports series vehicle M550i, X5m50i etc they are worlds apart. It's tough to go from a full M vehicle to any other BMW period. Seems like the majority who have owned a M vehicle stick with them repeatedly.

I wouldn't say zero comparison. The M vehicles are more track focussed but I would argue the M sport vehicles are better for the majority of people because most people don't track their cars. The M340i and X3 M40i are have all the performance most people need and straddle the line between performance and comfort really well.

In my part of the world the incentives and finance rates were much better on the X3M Comp to the points the price gap narrows considerably making it an easy call to get the M versions. The X3/4M models have been slow sellers up here.

@heavyd^2 Any time I get a Bmw loaner vehicle from my dealership when my M4 has routine service work done I am disappointed. Every new X3, X5, 3 or 5 series loaner car regardless of the price I get lacks the handling, sportiness, and fun factor of an M vehicle. I will gladly pay more for an M vehicle because the smile it puts on my face daily is well worth the cost. I am sure the non M vehicles are great also for those who aren't as focused on performance and handling. When your use to a precision scalpel it's tough to go back to a hammer.

M cars are great... until you want a relaxing comfortable drive, then they are not. The M40i vehicles have a ton of performance with more comfort involved. I'm on the fence between the X3 M and M40i but haven't driven either one since I'm not in the market until August, but my M340i is just excellent so for the street I don't desire an M3.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a30195775/bmw-2020-android-auto/

According to what I’ve read, it’s only on Live Cockpit (iD7).

That info could be incorrect but I wouldn’t purchase on the word of BMW unless you have something in writing from BMW NA/your region.

Percentage wise, that’s not chump change. But pretty close in cost.

It's close enough to want to do a test drive, for sure. If I pushed the budget up to X3MC level, I think my wife would have opted for an X5. She yells Jesus a lot when I'm driving her X3 M40i, so I don't think an X3MC would appeal to her. And I would love the 7,000+ lbs tow capacity.

I currently drive a Porsche Macan S and previously owned a 2009 911. Not sure what to expect and will eventually test drive in the next few weeks. Any thoughts on how the suspension compares to Macan or 911?

I test drove a Macan S. The ride in the X3M will be stiffer for sure but the power and tech are worlds above the Macan.

I found the interior much nicer as well.

The performance is so shockingly different, it is a more realistic comparison to the Macan Turbo at ~$30k more.

I was so underwhelmed with the Macan S it immediately was removed from my short list.

It is pretty though - X3m was more like falling for the girl who was awesome in bed rather than the prom queen

A shared perspective. And we haven't even had previous M experience. But this handling is just another league. I now look forward to long trips just for the chance to drive it, and no longer just going from point A to B. Not sure why it flipped that switch, as the G01 X3 M40i is an amazing SAV in which we enjoyed many a mile, but just not like we do in the X3MC.

Apologies to OP as I'm not sure how we got off-topic from the title of your thread.

One of the reasons why I unloaded my g05 was b/c of ID7.
Convoluted.
Constantly pulls eyes off the road.
Submenu galoré
HVAC controls are for some reason tricky to master w/o looking.
Worst of all is the reverse tach.
Overall pretty but I think overdone.
Remote start was the best feature.
Full Navi screen was very nice to look at, but who uses car gps anyway?

Headlight switchES are a nightmare. if I recall correctly it’s like 6 separate buttons.

Awesome truck (the G05) and plenty of space on a positive note. Very very very comfortable.

I also drove the Macan s and disagree that the interior on the x3m was much nicer . Completely different ...Macan is more old school...as far as the ride , the x3m was significantly harsher and bouncier .

I thought you like fast cars? Buy the X3 MC, load BM3, go 0-60 in 2.8 sec. Done.

Not my car. I would love to sneak a BM3 into her X3 M40i, though.
