To me old school = dated and I much preferred the more modern interior of the X3M - preferences vary.

The lack of power was a deal breaker for me. I didn’t feel any cornering advantages as I couldn’t get it to go that fast. Conversely, the X3M need little road to show off its capabilities.

The Macan is no doubt a smoother ride but I have yet to feel the bounciness people describe. On my test drive of the X3M I was mostly in the highest mode for steering/trans/engine. In my break in period I’m almost always in the lowest comfort settings. Still no bounciness.

If the Macan Turbo was the same price as the X3M I might have had a more difficult time choosing. For this purchase the BMW was heads and shoulders above the other vehicles I was shopping.

And I should mention I was dead set on the Macan S for the year leading up to the test drives and dead set against getting a BMW.

This thread indicates that, yes, it should be coming for model year 2021. Most likely entering production in April. I would expect a build guide to appear this month or next, assuming an April production.

iDrive 7 & Android Auto

So I reached out to a 'Genius' and they advised my MY2020 G01 M40i with a production date of 10/2019 and Live Cockpit Pro has iDrive 7.

I went further to inquire as to whether the cars will be able to get Android Auto when it is released this summer and they advised the current plan is to push it to cars that have Remote Software Update (sp?) enabled which my car does not.

I then went on to further inquire if it will be available as a purchasable update or otherwise from the dealer in which they advised there is no current plan.

As others have said, as long as I'm able to connect bluetooth and access my phone media, i'm fine with it; however, I think they should take the extra step if it is not yet planned to get Android Auto into the vehicle.

Of course I'm an Android user and think the lack of the technology in such an advanced vehicle is absurd.

With that said, I have so much damn fun driving this car, I only need to know how fast I'm going through the HUD ....

If you don't like the hard low speed city ride MSS springs rule. I had them fitted a week ago and they are great. Appreciate PITA and extra expense and hassle but over 3-4 years finance deal it's well worth it.

Absolutely worth the wait. The # 1 reason why I did not purchase a X3M was the outdated ID6.

I was kicking myself in the butt for not waiting 6 months for the X3M and placing an order now. But kind of worked out because all factory orders are delayed due to the nonsense so I am happy with my decision I keep myself that at least.

Had my F97 in the dealer for several days while they unfu*cked my car as connected drive was still disconnected now that I'm back in the US. They swapped the head unit ($3k under warranty), and my car is finally connected. While waiting, they hooked me up with an M40i with ID7 for 3 days. I was so glad to get my car back (working, BTW). I'm an android guy and would love to have android auto, but despite that, ID7 ain't worth it IMHO. I'm happy to have ID6. But then again, maybe I'm just old and classic.....

On a sperate note, I really need this virus thing to pass as I can't wait to drag this car nearby.... I'm gonna lose my license just running to home depot at the rate I'm going....

I wasn't overly impressed with ID7 in the rental I had but like anything I imagine that I would get used to it and end up liking it as much as ID6 in time. Part of the reason ID6 is one of the best infotainment systems ever is that it just works and you would be surprised how many other automakers have slow responding, unfriendly, buggy systems. The issue right now is that on the other forums people are having plenty of issues with ID7 and I like that ID6 just works all day every day.

It's a matter of preference. I use carplay, so ID6 vs 7 doesn't make a difference in the centre screen (you can code the ID6 to display full screen carplay).

Driven an X3 and 3 series with the ID7 dash. I prefer the dashboard in the ID6 version.

I like that the iD7 has a slightly bigger central screen, but I definitely prefer the classical instrumental cluster of iD6. Overall, I’m totally satisfied with iD6. It works flawlessly and has more functions than I’ll ever need.
