The design element you most like in your G01

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
BMW designs are complex. Lots of detail lines in the sheet metal and careful attention to the overall "BMWness" of a model mean that it can take years to fully "see" your car.

I also think that this complexity helps the cars age well, esp. compared to the Japanese brands. (I was bored with my 2013 Toyota RAV4 in a year or two.)

So, this thread is to discuss the design element you most like. Please, no whining or bitching about the G01. If you're not a fan, don't post.

I'll go first. After over three years of ownership, the thing I never get tired of seeing is (drum roll, please)...

...the embossed X3 logo on the B-pillar when you open a passenger-side or driver-side door.

I too enjoy the X3 logo on the B pillar. It was a nice touch to have that there.

That along with the giant “X” on the top corner of the door panel. I always like the little details even though you never even see the “X” when you are sitting inside.

Mine is the 20" M double-spoke Bi-color wheels, style 699M with performance run-flats. The two tone color and shape really compliment it’s looks and I love the little M logo on the rims. Inside the M sport steering wheel feels and looks fantastic.

Love the X more than the B pillar. Although you're right, you don't get to see it when the door is closed, but IMO it's still a very nice touch they didn't have to do but did.

It’s a bit weird to say that a not-visible thing is your favorite design element, it’s more of an Easter egg. The hidden Xs remind me of the Jeep Renegade, tbh.

My favorite design element is the front fascia, especially the M Sport version with the detached “fangs” at the bottom. It’s very visually interesting, and is aggressive without being overdone.

I like how the 'bent' lines are there in the side vents, the little grilles near the very back windows, and also seen again in the exterior ground lighting...

I also like the hidden "X" behind the doors...

Oh..and the 'sticky-out' bits that run along the bottom edge of each door....gives a bit more of a 3D feel to the doors

One of the most special touches that I appreciate is the carpet lighting under the side skirts! I remember being absolutely astonished the first time I saw them light up at night after picking her up!

Ah yeah +1! The sweeping lights are really neat. I like how it's mirrored on the inside as well.

I like that there are many 'mosts' - the fangs on the front facia, the side-blades along the lower edge of the doors (remember when Audi was doing proper sticky-outy blades on the B6-era S4's? So good...), the kinda-box-flared rear fenders.

On the inside I really like the open-pore matte wood trims. They're such a great organic and tactile contrast to all the excellent technical geometric shapes. Tucked up against the satin aluminum, yea very nicely done.

Yup.

My M40i has black leather seats that in MY19 had blue piping and tiny M logos on the backrest with the open pore wood.

I really sweated that choice since the open pore wood was usually pictured with light colored interiors.

I shouldn't have worried. It's gorgeous.

I like the cerium grey mirrors and grill on the M40i. It's a good balance of not chrome but also not shadowline, which gives a storm trooper vibe on a white car.

I love the carbon fiber trim on the inside, so I added the carbon fiber BMW license plate frames. Beats having that ugly dealer frame for sure.

I'm a fan of how both the tail lights and LED headlights look.. daytime with the DRL halos on, and nighttime with the red running lights on each lens.

Also, I'm a fan of the amount of power little B58 makes in the M40i.. seems to surprise a lot of people how quickly it accelerates.

Still have a few hundred miles left to go on my break in, but yesterday I punched it from a stop and my reading glasses that were resting on top of my head landed in the back seat!

I like the BMW Prof Navigation...nice touches include road ahead congestion etc as well as audio traffic situations.

The meats on the back! At least until I had to pick them up to put Poor Boys on them.

I strongly DISlike the X on the pillar

Something that I like about the X3 is the shape of the hood and those beautiful lines that you see when you hop in the drivers seat. I realize this is common to many BMWs, but I really love how it looks compared to other cars I've owned (which admittedly were not as nice as a BMW, sans my model 3).

That's funny because that's the thing I dislike the most. The hood lines are so jarring from the driver's seat. I'm really happy my wife didn't notice. I guess I'm just used to Audi's flat view while driving. After a month, I don't notice it any more, but I remember when I first got in, I hated it (not enough to not buy the car, obviously).
