When does a car typically move from 112 to 150? i.e. how far in advance for the prod date? ~2 weeks? Thanks

Right now it probably takes 4-6 weeks in reality, wife's X6 just recently moved from 112 to 150, took exactly 24 days.

Remember, the factory just getting production started back up. If you'd asked me back in December, it would have taken less than 2 weeks (barring any specialty paint jobs). But right now? I agree with Iamthespeed.

My dealer had a allocation for me on July 7th. Car was at 111 at that time. Had production number and week was 31. Made a couple of minor changes right before it hit 112 and a few days later 150. July 18th was when it got to 150. Used the F12 trick and saw production date was 08/02.(This is the date production is completed) It took exactly 14 days from 150 to car was awaiting transport (One day early) but the f12 trick also showed production date changed to 08/01. Car was shipped on 08/03 and arrived at my dealer today.

Congrats! My X3 says it is going to be built on the 9th per F12 so I am still anxiously awaiting that call from the dealer.

Apologies if I missed it, but what and where is the “F12 trick” please?

The production date is actually the date the car is completed. I assume the X3 is the same as my X4. Production usually takes exactly 14 days. Mine took only 2 days from the production date(car completed) to being on a car carrier and 2 more days to my dealer. The F12 showed me it was at the dealer yesterday. I called the dealer and he said he didn't have the paperwork yet, but he checked and said the car was just unloaded from the carrier.

F12 is a way to get detailed production information. Search this form and some of the posts and they give very detailed info on how to do it.

Production is done in one day, it doesn't take 14 days to complete. When you hit 150 status that just means all parts have been received and allocated for your build.

You are incorrect. In the last 16 years I have tracked over 10 vehicles that I have purchased or leased. From status 150(Production begins) until ready for transport (status 190) is 14 days including my 2024 X4 M40i which went into status 150 on 7/18/23 and wasn't ready for transport until 08/01/24

No, 150 does not mean the vehicle has began production. It just means that the parts have been allocated for your build and a VIN is assigned. The actual production does not happen until the assigned production date. There are plenty of videos showing a build from start to completion taking only one day.

I am super excited I have a week 35 build. I have a production number but I am still waiting for a vin number. Also, the specs listed have not been updated in the “track your BMW” yet. I am also waiting on dates to book travel for the Performance Center Delivery.

Today was an exciting day. I got my vin number, my car went into production, and I booked my flights to Greenville for performance center delivery.
