We have so far a confirmation from "1" people who just got their 2023 with no driver lumbar support.

Curious how others feel about this as our car is $65k+,
Can the feature be added later?

I just read someone was credited on a x5 for lack of surround view.

My Audi friend who sells a ton of Q5 "SQ5" lack the push button start. Audi this year reverted back to the crank start. I found that to be insane but kind of retro cool.

This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me on the x3. On all three of our cars- I never use them really.

So does my 23 based upon photos from the dealer.

Going off-topic, how well do you like the ventilated seats?

I've had my 2022 X3 M40i for 2.5 weeks now. I think they work fine, but it definitely does not cool as quick as they did in my Audi ventilated seats. In my Audi, my back was instantly cooled and you could just barely feel the air with your hand against the perforations. When it has been 100 degrees out, it definitely seems to take longer to cool my backside in comparison to my Audi. This week has been in mostly the 80's with rain, and I have noticed it not having to work as hard and is cooling much quicker to the point I have turned it off on several days. I haven't been able to feel any cool air with my hand, but I can definitely hear it in the seat. Most on the forum have stated the seats "suck" air & not "blow" air thru the seat. I'm not 100% on this & my scientific research hasn't really spent too much time really investigating my seats in detail. The website description does state "blow"...
Ventilated front seats gently blow your choice of warm or cool air upward through the micro-perforated leather, helping to keep you comfortable all year long. Important: This feature will remove standard Sport Seats and adjustable side bolsters.

Bmw ventilated seats don't blow per say... they actually do the reverse, the suck the air in... this prevents u from sweating and acts like a vaccuum... so u may not feel it but its working.

We just got in a 2023 X3 M40i with leather and it is definitely missing both lumbar and width adjustment on the driver's seat, with no mention of either on the window sticker. Non-ventilated seats. (I've gotten stuck by what's missing on those since 2018 and don't order them anymore.)

At the same time, we received two 2023 X3 30i and both had lumbar on the driver's seat.

So I can't offer an explanation but believe me we will be asking BMW for one!

If you think this makes if hard on the buyers, imagine what us sellers are going through several times a day!

Tough times.

I'm sure it would be difficult to deal with unhappy clients. Some people don't get that you are not making the cars. Sorry this is happing to you as well as us waiting to pick ours up.
Please let us know what you find out.
Thank you!

Yea I have 2022 M40i (7/29 production finish) cognac leather non-ventilated. Driver's seat has lumbar but no width adjustment. Passenger seat has nothing.

Personally, I can live without lumbar adjustment ( I could retrofit manual lumbar cushion such as

https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/race...rt-cobacces05/. If necessary.)

But I cannot live without sports seats / seat bolster width adjustment

I live in Houston so it’s been nice and toasty with the lovely addition of humidity. Ventilated seats were a must for me when I was looking to get a new vehicle. So far I’m enjoying them. I have them set to turn on to level 2 automatically and it’s it keeps my back from sweating. Days where my car might be in the sun all day and then getting in still takes some time to cool down but it’s better than not having them.

If normal X3 are getting the feature where it is add on, and m40i where it is supposed to be standard are not - yes BMW needs to accept this is a mistake and rectify

If you get a response from BMW, it would be great if you could share any additional info here, especially if it helps others make better informed orders going forward (i.e., only ventilated seats come with lumbar, etc).

I don’t expect BMW to even acknowledge the end customer at this point, but maybe they would feel like they owe an explanation to their dealers.

To answer the questions directed to me from my post above:

Yes, I work at a dealership. (I started selling BMWs in 1976)
Yes, I have (today) sent an inquiry to my area distribution manager

Happy to let you know when I get a reply and—hopefully—an answer. I doubt we'll call it a solution. Much like the non-touch-screens they surprised us with on the X5 earlier this year, nothing they can do—short of a retrofit—would be acceptable in my opinion.

1000% agreed.

I was not active at these forums during missing touch screen issue, so excuse my possible ignorance, but what I read was that BMW switched touch screen chip provider, and engineering team needed more time to make touch screen work with newer chip, so it was disabled when delivered, but BMW was able to push an update later to enable it at later point. At least in that case, BMW had included the chip, it was just not active. In this case, BMW didnt even leave any button slot for possible future retrofit. BMW needs to get this resolved at no cost for cars already built and thats only acceptable solution.
