Tracking Vessel from South Africa to UK

My BMW X3 which I ordered on 21/04 has been produced in Rosslyn, SA. As of today the status is

6000 - Transfer to Distribution (from BMW Genius)

I hope within a day or two it will turn to Status 9000 - Departed Plant'.

Is there any way, I can track my BMW for which Vessel it's travelling to Bremerhaven (I guess it would first reach to Bremerhaven before travelling to Southampton UK). Also, I don't know if it would onboard from Durban RoRo or Durban MPT or Port Elizabeth.

Any experience talk would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you've got a rough idea of dispatch, you could take a look on: https://www.myshiptracking.com/ports...kingdom-id-390

I wasn't given my VIN, but worked out which ship she was on by the limited dealer info. Takes a bit of trawling through (you can also do the same for Durban port) but will give you something if the VIN search draws a blank. I established mine left Durban on 27/12 on the Leo Leader and arrived Southampton 17/01.

Excuse me sir but HOW did you get so far ahead of me? I ordered an X3 30e in JANUARY that's been given a build date of July and a late August delivery?! :-(((

That's not too bad for a 30e…I ordered mine last April, arrived in Feb (10 months). I don't know if the semiconductor shortage affects PHEV more than others, but they probably do suffer from battery cell allocation issues. Worth the wait though!

I observed TAIPAN berthed on 18/05 but departed on 19/05. My car is still sitting waiting to be boarded as it is.
FREEDOM ACE is due for berthing today.. let's keep an eye on this

This link is truly worth. Thank you. But given my delivery date to be week commencing 05/07 (i.e. the date when dealer will receive it), I am not sure which Vessel/Vessels should I fix my eye on. Would they straight arrive from Durban to Southampton or would they take a halt at Bremerhaven. if they come via Bremerhaven, would they change the Vessel or would it be same Vessel? Any idea?

Mine is X3 20i XDrive Msport version, so no PHEV. And really have no idea why yours build date is so far.

I THINK it will first stop at Bremerhaven. And I also think, that is stays on the same vessel.

The Leo Leader that I think mine came in on only stopped at Vigo before Southampton. 3 weeks from departure to arrival, then 2.5 weeks to delivery (direct from port, not via dealer).

Assuming port to dealer timeframe is similar, I would look for car carriers leaving Durban later next week.

Found my car boarded on GRAND RUBY and heading towards Port EMDEN, Germany. Expected arrival is on 15/06 on that Port.
Any idea if they would make the car to change the vessel, before starting for Southampton?

No. Cars just get unloaded in different ports.

You can track the ship itself on the myshiptracking site (although Grand Ruby port tracking data is quite old)…it does show on the map in Durban from yesterday though. Hopefully the destination port data will update for you soon.

I found my car is on vessel GRAND RUBY, it's reaching Emden, Germany on 12/06. However, when spoke with Genius, they said the estimated delivery date is between 1st to 11th July. Considering that journey from Emden to Southampton takes only 2 days, at max. Does it mean, that my car will sit at Emden port, idle, for around 3 weeks (considering the custom clearance at Southampton will take couple of days)? Any idea? or past experience?

If I was you just forget about it, wait for dealer to say they have got it. My week 46 build is still in transit over 8 weeks now. I have now stopped looking at the shipping app as it was driving me mad.

Can I ask how long after the build date it showed up tracking by your VIN in the web tracker ?

My X3 was built in wk3 and apparently is currently on a ship from SA. When I put my VIN into the GCOS tracker, it recognises the VIN, but all the information is missing.

If I change the VIN number, even by one digit (eg N144673) I get an error 'No data found - Please try search again', so it does seem to recognise my VIN that I was given by my dealer.

I was also a week 3 build destined for UK. I am status 9000 (updated 26th Jan) and don’t believe its on a ship yet, we might be on the same ship when they get loaded in the coming days.

Will keep you posted if any date/ship appears on my search, i get the ‘no data found’ notification currently.

If you are worried your dealer has given you a duff VIN, email Uk customer services and they send it on to you.

Tbh I fed up with checking and checked on 27th and had this nice surprise.

Now I’m trying to track Mermaid Ace vessel and it’s off range … probably sank

I wouldn’t be surprised if our cars would be on the same vessel. As far I know it’s going to Port in Spain but no idea what is next ?

It's all very confusing. I was status 165 20 Dec and now 181. Any idea what 181 means? I' know what BMW says it means, but does "waiting for domestic dispatch mean it's at a UK port ?????

181 Handover to Distribution/Dispatched from factory, Waiting for Domestic Dispatch
