New X3 M40i - Dispatched!
My new X3 M40i was dispatched (status 9000) from the factory yesterday. That's the good news!
The less than palatable news is that scheduled delivery is week 52! Anyone in the UK know how long the average Boat Ride is from South Africa? CAN.NOT.WAIT! |

Thanks - so maybe a little less than 29 days, considering port of entry is likely to be Southampton UK.
What am I going to do for 25+ Days?! Went for White, Tech Pack and Msport plus package. Every day since I sold my M235i I have missed the sound of a cold six cylinder! The corner of my road, where I live, is going to be noisy as hell, fella across from me has an Aston Martin and my next door neighbour has a porsche carrera gts - god forbid we all go out at the exact same time! |

Also (and you must have a piece of paper somewhere!?) - ask for your AG reference number. Then use that number to speak to BMW Genius. They will then be able to tell you what's what!

In about a day, your car will appear here: http://41.160.4.58:8080/apex/f?p=102:11:::NO::: Put in your VIN number, and it'll tell you when it's arrived at port, and again once it's on a ship |

It's your car - he should give it to you, never had that issue before. If he still resists, ring him EVERY SINGLE DAY asking for an update. And suggest if you had the VIN, you could do this yourself and not bother him/her. |

Once the car is produced, the dealer will know the VIN. |

I'm not overly fussed about the VIN as the status is "At Sea". I just thought it would make ship tracking easier! #Geek |

My X3 has been at sea since the end of September. Hoping it's somewhere near the UK by now. I asked dealer where it was likely to come into the country and was told Southampton, Tees, Immingham or Sheerness are the main UK ports of entry. Needless to say there is lots of ships that arrive there but mainly from Emden, Bremerhaven and Zeebrugge. |

5-6 weeks is the normal time at sea from Durban to Southampton. All depends on how many other stops it makes on the way, and whether there is any port congestion, meaning the ship gets stuck at anchorage waiting to dock (this happened to me , resulting in 3 days delay ! )

I hope he's on the Glovis Cardinal. It is already in Zeebrugge tomorrow.
