Program a non-BMW $21 key from Amazon

How do I program a $20 BMW key from Amazon to my 2013 X1 AWD 28i model? I don't have the symbol on the steering column like all the videos show. I don't need comfort access or anything - I just want an emergency key in case I lose the only one that came with my car when I bought it used last week.

You can't. The videos on programming are misleading and are just mating a key that already has been programmed to your car. You need to bite the bullet and spend the $300+ at the dealer. You'l need proof you own it and your ID.
