Blocked water jets
Hi
Had a problem with my wife's 2017 F25 with the dreaded blocked water jets. I have only ever used the BMW Windscreen Washer concentrate on this and my previous F31 and current X3 M40i (G01). Long story short, dealer said blockage not under warranty. Initially wanted to charge me £220 for blocked filter; agreed on £73 as this is what they initially quoted. As I'm struggling to see why this is not covered by warranty, I have queried this with BMW UK. I received the following response: "Following from my previous email, I've heard back from the service manager. He advised me this is a common issue and comes down to the dilution of the screen wash being used in the vehicle. I'm aware you believe you're using the correct fluid, but he has advised there may be an issue with the amount of concentrate to water being used. The best thing to do to stop this happening on your BMW X3 and your BMW X3 M40i, is to only use BMW pre-diluted screen wash – instead of concentrated screen wash." This is not detailed in the handbooks. Two queries: - is this a common issue? - what screenwash do people use and any tips on how to avoid this happening in the future? Bit unsure how I am using the wrong amount of concentrate. Many thanks in advance. |

I'm not impressed with how they have dealt with this. Good luck with yours. Let me know how you get on. |

I was told to just use the "cheap blue stuff"....and NEVER use Rain-X due to it has a silicone like ingredient that WILL MESS UP your sprayer system!
I'm told that Rain-X sold out to another company that bought the name and changed the formula. It's the "changed formula" that is supposedly the issue. If you like rain-X then just buy the Rain-X that applies directly to the glass windshield buy hand. That works well and then you can use the "cheap blue stuff" in the washer holding tank.
