In addition to OP, I only find mention on Autoblog. Autoblog: The X3 and X4 add M Sport seats and new trim strips as options. Starting in August those models also get an M Sport Individual option.

So you're interpreting this as the regular X3/X4 get iDrive7 starting August 2019 but the M version gets it beginning April 2020? I'll be surprised if BMW leaves only the flagship X3/4 M on the older tech for 7 months. I guess we'll see soon enough.

Any official news on this yet - can only find Bimmerpost mentioning anything. I tried to get out of current order to update with new seats but dealer can’t find any info.

That is why I'm so excited about the regular 2020 x3 M40 in August Not only it is getting a new engine - 382HP it gets the new tech way before the M x3 gets it. So if you spec your car with - limited slip - Adaptive M suspension - New M seats - new tech/nav HUD package (probably premium) Who needs an X3 M |

This could be seen as a negative assuming you find Live cockpit an abomination which I do. I also think Idrive 7 is by far the worst idrive in years. The flat button concept along with the massive bugs do not have me eager to upgrade.

I found an official announcement. Seems like those of you wanting more power and ID7 are out of luck. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...19?language=en

But if history is anything to go by (and it may or may not be) . . . BMW - in the US especially - is trying to differentiate the 3/X3 from the 4/X4. So just because the US X4 may get merino leather and M Sport seats, don't be sure the X3 will get them as well. Also, as there's no mention of X3/X4 live cockpit and ID7 in the global announcement, it's doubtful that North America will get them either at this time. Again, this is just based on history, and like everyone else here, it's just my conjecture. We'll know more about North American vehicles within a month or so . . . For me, I'm waiting to order a M340 or a X3/X4 M40. I've extensively driven a 330 with live cockpit and ID7 and I like it a lot. Also, I won't order a vehicle without merino leather. So, I may be SOL for another year - the M340 may not get merino in the US, and the X3/X4 may not get the new tech.

So. To recap:
1). What we know for sure is that in the coming weeks:
Since we see 'Sunstone metallic' now available. I should expect to see this options in days to a few weeks and these changes will be rolled into the MY2019 current build. Full press release HERE. 2) Rumors for MY2020 (August 2019 Production)
In my industry, we refer to such prognostications as "vapor ware" and should not be relied upon. Also, rumors say little about regional differences, which, as history has shown us, may varied options depending on where you happen to live. Many BMW sales and long time buyers say that this is too early for LCI (life cycle impulse- mid cycle face lift of the car) as car was just released in 2018. Rumors suggest that this is a very hotly contested category and though early, these changes will happen. I am hopeful this is true. Link to future rumored changes HERE. All that said, being this close to July - which is month ordering MY2020 should commence and all options and choices should be fully revealed - I am content to wait for ordering. (And by "content" I mean "to wait in anguish")

Like someone said above - BMW announcement was for global markets - so it is aimed at non US.
Spartanburg plant has a big month in August. So all the US 2020 new releases and updates will be rolled out for USA first - they simply wont make it to the rest of the world in time for August release. In US we are going to see a lot of new stuff first: - x5 M50 - x7 m50 both with 530 HP new V8 from 850 - New X5 M - X5 M competition - New model X6 with all teh engines and X6M Most of the cars are getting the new tech (i drive 7) update as of August. That said - with I drive 7 update you still only get partial new updates. Need to wait till full LCI to get the rest of the hardware. The true new tech cars are: M850, x5 and M340 right now - where you get the full scope of - Best in industry self driving tech - Assistance pro with lane assist - remote start - Digital key card - Full remote Connected drive package - new comfort access - self parking and self back out assistant - Laser lights |

I haven't decided on the M340 or an X3/4. I've don't really like SUVs, however this will be a Florida/beach vehicle, so the X will be more practical. I drove a X3 and a X4 M40 and they're quite the machines. But I also want the nicer merino interior, and so far, I can't get that on the M340. So no decision yet.

Spoke to my dealer in the UK. He confirmed lots of changes coming to X4 models from August 2019 production. Namely tyre changes, deletion of Fineline cove and piano black interior trim, deletion of adaptive suspension from sport models, deletion of sport seats as an option from basic sport models, deletion of Jet Black and Sparking Storm colours, and price rises across for many of the packages.
But no new 3-series style dashboard, ID7 or engine upgrades. These will come as part of the LCI in 18-24 months.

Evidences to support it will have iDrive 7: 1. 2020MY BMW X3 30e seems using iDrive 7/Live cockpit, although no one really confirmed/discussed that? From the image it is clearly a X3. 2. G30 5 Series will get iDrive 7/Live cockpit since the M5 35 years clearly showed that. Not mentioned in the press release as well. 3. Reputable and confirmed response from ynguldyn few times-X3/X4 get live dash in August and then next April for X3M. Which also inline with "all G series will get live dash" since X3M is F 4. Several member reported dealer confirmed iDrive 7 and live dash Evidences to support no iDrive 7: 1. From few other dealers 2. X3 is slightly younger than 5 so maybe should get it later? BMW's Live Cockpit is terrible. It's just an overstyled black panel display that doesn't make the centre console redundant for navigation like Audi's system which even offers a satellite view!
I prefer the Digital Insturment Cluster on the 5-Series that displays big and clear information about junctions, exists and lanes. Maybe I'm missing the point but I genuinely can't see what iDrive 7 including "Live Cockpit" does better than iDrive 6. The A-Class even offers augmented reality.
