Except the ridiculously priced Merc G 65 AMG, which is a 30 year old platform, there is no other manufacturer in their rightfull mind that would do that. (even not the Merc GL)
It will be a twin turbo V8 for sure with lost of hp. Its just too much R&D cost/engeneering compromises to allow for a v12 option from the beginning of the development process to sell severall hundred of those monsters in the end.
And small volume Bentley/Aston/Lambo SUVs with 3xx-4xx k prices do not count.
There will be a V12 option in the X7 because it is being positioned as the 7er of the X models. It will be exclusively luxurious and modern with the option to configure the rear passenger section. X7 is based upon the new Carbon Core concept cluster architecture therefore it will be able to equip itself with a V12 and also Power eDrive as an alternative model.

The X7 will be the most driver orientated model in the segment with also the exclusivity and luxury found in the new 7er.
I seen it the other day and it is big,but has a unique very modern and very chiselled features. The Kidney Grille is huge but necessary. Almost as huge as the Vision Future Luxury concept. You certainly won't mistake it for an X5.
Of course the new angular design language begins to take shape with the new X3 model which retains familiar X3 design cues but upgrades them to the new design philosophy.
That comes first before X7 but we will see the transition with these models leading to an all new X5 and of course there will be new cycles of the X4 and X6 to join the X2. And there could even be possibilities for a further X8.

was going to order a 340i M-Sport

BUT MAYBE I SHOULD WAIT FOR A M340i ???

anyone in the know confirm that is in the works?

(would love a M440i Gran Coupe with a stick, but I know that won't happen)

Garage List
2006 325i  [8.00]
so it should have looked like this when it came out initially..would the dual exhaust to set apart from X3.

they are keeping the old interior until the new X3 releases? like apple iphone--- minor changes each phase.

have probably seen this comment 100 times "might as well buy an Aztec", seriously?

I am glad my wife and I bought our X6 (M Sport) because we love it, and this X4 M40i looks just like a mini version (if it was out 2 months ago we might have picked it over the X6), especially now that it FINALLY has split exhausts. When I first bought it I thought we would get lots of comments about people not liking it but all we get is positive comments from co-workers, friends, and strangers, this includes people who are brutally honest with us on things, not a single negative comment about it.

Anyone who bashes this, first go see it in person (with M Sport package and a good color, as that makes a difference) and then drive one of them, the X4 and X6 drive a lot different than the X3/X5 and that is the purpose of them, people who want the AWD and stance of a SUV but don't need the cargo space and would rather have a more stylish and better handling car. Having driven the F15 and F16 for a good amount of time, I would choose the F16 every time, unless I absolutely needed that extra height in cargo space.

Any knock on this car needs to be on the dated interior, which hopefully is fixed in 3 years.
This very true. My X6M was one of my favorite cars. I was a hater until I took for a test drive at a track day and one lap is all it took to change my mind. Living with the car was even better. It was a car that did many things and offered few compromises.

The only thing that bothered me was the styling. I always felt that the X6 was a great idea but needed more slick lines like the Grand Coupe.

I have to admit I am excited about the new X7. I remain concerned about the styling. As late comer to this segment it needs to be nothing short of stunning to woo people away from Range Rover and the others in this increasingly crowded segment. I loved the G12. Substance and engineering are spot on as is the interior but too many thought that it could have developed the exterior styling to a higher more edgy design.

Ugly and heavy. Waste of a good drivetrain.

Besides my 2008 E90 335i, the most fun I had fun driving was in a 2009 X650i. Even more fun (and dangerous) with the Dinan tune. The x6 encompasses comfort, refinement and awesome high seating position as well as room for storage. When you combine these things with a stellar drivetrain and suspension it's a perfect combination.

I would definitely shoot for an X440i if the price is right for me. I'm not so sure if I would she'll out unless it's at lest an Msport with 6 cylinders. Base doesn't appeal to me as much for sure.

I drove the x4 35i at one of BMW's Ultimate Driving events on a small autocross track, had 21" M Perf tires fitted and that thing handled like a stock car on that small track, I was amazed at how well it could take corners and quick commands, my girlfriend even pushed it way harder than she should ever be allowed to. I loved it, im a fan of the X6 too just not the price. If this model can be well equipped around 60k msrp then id definitely go for it but only when that interior is updated, I was hoping the LCI x3 would fix that problem but I dont think BMW makes major interior changes mid cycle. Range rover did it on the Sport, the 2010-2013 interior was light years better than the 2006-2009 one. I guess well wait and see.

Anybody know if the front 'fangs' clip onto standard grills or if they are pre bonded to new grills that can be easily changed without need to remove front bumper?

M Sport is standard on M Performance cars.

Trim are probably snap-on. Bumper has to come off to change the air intake grilles for new ones with the necessary snap-on notches.

Does that mean that the new X7 will have the BMW 6.0 V12 and the RR Cullinan with have the RR 6.6 V12 and both will come out as 2018 models or will one of them come out before the other?

I'm sure you're right. Was hoping that it could be done without bumper off. How big a job for bumper off ?
