2022 X4M Transfer Case Damage Prevention
Are there any members who installed 265/40/21 and 295/35/21 spec tires, experiencing any sense of slippage from their transmission or transfer case? Once I raised my PSI to 38 (front) and 41 (rear), I felt like my transfer case was active.
Do we have any notifications on our dash if the transfer case is active? |

The 265/295 combo reduces the front to rear rotational variance and should not cause issues with the drivetrain…
I have not come across any report of issues resulting from the above tire size combo. But I sure would love to hear if anybody has similar experience like you with your X4M

Right! I checked the diameter specs and it is safe for the X4M. It has a -0.7 difference from front to back. It is below the 2% tolerance level. Anyway, I decided to leave the PSI at 35 (front) and 40 (rear). I didn't experience any more issues. Thank you for your response.

Someone from another forum thread mentioned the value. He stated that a master BMW tech shared this info. Nevertheless, the information on various websites states this as well. Different manufacturers have their tolerance ratings when it comes to their AWD systems.

The problem with doing the 265 / 295 is that the rears might end up shorter than the front.
This becomes a larger issue as the rear tires wear down. Exacerbating the problem and leading to potential xfer case failure. IMO don’t do it. The X3M has a forward rake from the factory and the xfer case needs that taller rear tire. |

Hi guys I am get slippage from the rear tires when making U-turn or locking hard to back into parking space and I noticed this because at the same problem with my Audi because of tire size when I check the stock tire revolution, poor mile the front is 717 and the rear are 709, so the 265/ 295 is a problem running them because the revolution it’s reversed the front are 709 and the rear is 715 I also the 2023 bmw m5 it’s the same like our x3/x4m’’s

I don't know what type of tires you are on, but that pressure seems too high and would make for a very uncomfortable ride.
