Aliexpress M Style Black Mirror Caps Review

I decided to try out some M style mirror caps from Aliexpress and I wanted to share my thoughts. At $84 shipped, it was such a great deal, I couldn't pass up on giving them a shot. I got them in black, but they also have them in a carbon fiber look. I placed the order on Feb 4 and received it on Mar 14, which is quite awhile. Obviously because they're coming from China, that could be a factor for anyone who doesn't want to wait.

Fitment seems perfect. In fact, I have a hard time imagining them being any better. The color matches the black trim perfectly.

Overall, it's only been a couple weeks but I'm really happy with them. They're sportier than the OEM style which may not be your cup of tea but obviously, the black is far better than the cerium gray especially on my glacier silver X4. As long as the color doesn't fade I imagine these are a great option for anyone who doesn't want to pay $340 for painted ones from IND and you like the look of the M style caps.

The car is dirty, but you get the idea.

This is the full replacement correct?

****edit just clicked the link yes they are. Full replacement, not just overlays.

************Do you feel the clips are about as strong as OEM? Good amount of flex but stable strength? Sorry for the terrible questions.

Yep, full replacement.

I couldn't tell a difference between these and the OEM clips. Strong but not brittle.

BMW plastic is Made in China...stamped on almost every piece...The trick is finding the stuff that was probably made on the "OEM" production line...

Do you have pictures from the other side? I'm wondering how these differ from the real x3m mirrors.

Yeah, if you're a fan of CF, go for it. Pretty happy with mine.

While on Aliexpress I recon you would like to get this to. Fit perfectly and I just really hate BMW for removing it to save cost

I can't even tell what that is. A mask to protect from COVID-19?

Sorry, no I don't. The tabs are identical to OEM in placement, size, etc.

I really don't want to take them off. Sorry man. If you look at the pictures in the Aliexpress listing you can see the tabs.

nono, I meant.. pictures from the other side around. Like when you're sitting in driver seat and looking towards your mirrors. All the pictures people post is looking at the car head on.. but I want to see how these look from driver perspective.

It’s hard to find plain gloss black without the wing.

None so far. Granted, I haven't been doing a ton of driving because I've been working from home lately, but so far so good.

Fair enough, but G generation parts are difficult to come by still. If you've seen them, please post the links.

Those look good. I added them to my cart.. now I need to figure out if the double slatted M grill works properly with active shutter before I order.

There are a bunch of people who have them and a couple threads that discuss it. You should be good. The shutters and the grill are completely separate. The only difference is that the shutters will line up perfectly for the OEM grills but will be a little misaligned with the double slats. But the double slats are thinner, so air passes through fine and there shouldn't be an issue. But don't take my word for it, this is just what I remember people saying on other threads.

yeah, I know they line up perfect with the OEM, but I want to see close up of how it looks with the double slatted grill. I'm just worried that there will be a small slit that's kept open with the grill when the slats are closed.
