M Sport Seats

Hi....

I am going to look at a 2017 X3 with some great packages (technology, etc).
However....it does have the M Sport package...which looks GREAT!!!!

Just wondering about the difference in the seats compared to the non M Sport Package Seats. Are they extra firm?

Just curious if anybody has any thoughts about the seats, or the M Package in general.

THANKS!!

Mark

Must have for me... besides better exterior appearance, the extending thigh bolster and nice tight electric side bolsters are clutch.

I can't comment on specific differences between the Msport seats and regular. I can tell you that when I bought my X3 I drove both Msport and non-Msport trims and was impressed with the Msport seats. As I recall, they were more supportive and had a greater level of adjustment. To me they felt noticeably better that the non-Msport seats. The salesman told me that lots of people buy the Msport just because of the seats.

2 years ago purchased 2012 X3 (I-6 non-turbo motor)with standard suspension but equipped with sport seats. For reference, I had been driving E39 5 Series sedans with M-Sport suspensions for 10 years prior to X3 buy.

Seats: sport seats were definitely superior to regular seats in terms of overall support, but definitely firm seating - after driving several cars with regular seats I knew I wanted sport seats, a must have. (Mine also heated)

Suspension: only drove one X3 M-Sport, car was fitted with runflats, it was too taught/too firm a ride for my liking. Drove several cars with regular suspension, most fitted with runflats, ugh those tires IMO just ruin ride quality. Car I eventually purchased had regular tires and suspension, ride is comfy. I suppose I would enjoy slightly firmer suspension but all in all car suits my needs, remember I drove M-Sport sedans for umpteen years...I wanted not so taught a ride. I'm age 68; the X3 is a 4200 lb. relatively high CG vehicle, I'm not going to be carving the twisties in the X3 as I used to do in my older sedans, which is fine by me at this juncture.

Tires make a World of difference in both performance and comfort - be very mindful of that fact.

Good luck/Bill

M-sport package is a must...I would not buy a BMW unless it had the M-sport package (or was an ///M vehicle).

The non-M-sport seats are softer and have less bolsters to hold you in place when doing some spirited driving.

Dynamic Handling Package (DHP) is a relatively rare option on X3's. But as others have mentioned, the tires make a big difference in ride feel. I have never drove an X3 with DHP, probably best not to know what I am missing out on, but also since I had to replace my shocks already it saved me some money as the DHP suspension is much more expensive to replace.

HUD is another thing that I now would not buy a vehicle without it, BMW or not.

When you get one, post it so we all can be envious of the new ride...

I had them replaced at ~125k miles. Springs were still good. Went with Koni Special Active Struts. Very good ride. Though I bought my X3 at 75k miles, so not sure how they compare to new OEM, but I like them.

They say shocks/struts last 50k-100k miles, depending on driving habits/load carried/etc. So mine were overdue, no matter how you look at it.

one more thought in addition to run-flats having a harsher ride...18" tires ride softer than 19" tires which ride softer than 20" tires...

M Sport package, but with NON Run Flat tyres are a good compromise on the F25 M Sport with 19" wheels.

We have a '16 and '17 F25 X3s both with M-Sport packages and I can't see going with anything different personally.
