X3M & X4M - images in other colors

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
By mistake I placed an X3 image with a different paint color on top of another one while working on more aero roof designs, and the color combination looked great. So I played around with some others and kept saving them as I liked a bunch of them. Since a number of folks have expressed frustration about the lack of interesting exterior colors thought I’d share so others could get an idea how it could look if we had more choices.

Good work on these color samples. I'd pick Toronto Red 20 Percent over Phytonic.

Thanks, Ando. That was one of my top five as well. Here's a side view. Maybe BMW will add more color options with the LCI.

Added X4 M Competition images

To pass the time awaiting reviews and test drives, here's how they might look without badges in different exterior colors.

I'm wonderimg why BMW is using only so boring colours fpr the X4 M. I'd like to have Marina Bay Blue or a clour similar to Estorilbleu

I believe I read that the Spartanburg plant is not set up to do individual colors. That's probably the "Priority 1" semi individual Sunstone in the picture.

Difficult to understand how the color choices are made at the Corporate level, Dynamike, but a number of us share your concerns about the limited and rather uninspired color choices for these true M models. Most likely a financially-motivated decision as most of these colors are readily available on the regular lines.

As I don't have any graphic design background it takes a fair amount of time to prep these different tints but I'd like to expand to the greens and yellows at some point. Far from being realistic, but at least gives somewhat of a perspective as to how they might appear.

I saw an M3 CS in SMB today and I think it was the best looking BMW I've ever seen.

For a $2.2 Billion Mnfr Plant wouldn't seem a stretch to add a few paint colors to a new M line which could be a major profit center for the firm, and surely the technology is there to do so without significant cost. I trust they know what they are doing, but if the exterior design is not differentiating these M models from the basic line as much as would be desired for some Enthusiasts, at least offering more unique M colors would be an offering. There is no doubt the performance will be there.

Haven't quite figured out the reasoning for such, but there must be one or more. They've clearly had time to produce a bunch of them so even if 10 were damaged at events, replacements would/should be readily available. This is the introduction platform to the masses for what should become a major product line for them. So could they possibly be tweaking their initial introduction models which may have been forced out with the early Feb website leak?

We'll find out, but if it isn't available when the M Town event rolls around our area we'll cancel for the event.

Going to try to pick actual colors from ando's Paint Wish List thread [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1517785 ] to mimic (rough idea of them) - these are Azurite Black (bjornb's choice) and Snapper Rocks (ando's choice).

And here are Boston Green (jpolonista's choice) and Grigio Telesto (ctdw's and sitcom323's choices). Really difficult to exactly match a lot of these colors, especially when online images with the same exterior paint appear so different depending on the lighting, color-enhancement etc. At least a rough idea.

I don't understand how that plant cannot do individual colors. From what I gather it's the largest BMW plant?
