Where is ASD (Active Sound Design) module, if any?

Hi - I have a 2016 X3 35i with the Harmon Kardon sound system. I'm trying to expunge a rumbling sound that comes on at 60mph, and want to eliminate the ASD (fake noise generator) in case it is a factor. Anybody know where it is, or even if there is one?

(The sound seems to come from the rear drivetrain and at a frequency possibly the same as driveshaft rotation. One begins the hear it at about 60 mph.)

So I internet ordered an aftermarket ASD bypass cable, but cannot find a compatible plug/receptacle so am wondering if it is wrong or if I just haven't found the ASD.

I looked in the left rear quarter where the amp is, removing what I needed to to see all modules and compare connectors. I did not remove the tub there that holds the tow hook, knowing it's really hard to get it out and back in after having done it once to install a trailer hitch and wiring.

BTW there are coding solutions that may or may not disable ASD but I'm wary of them. Some assert it can't be disabled after MY 2015 or thereabouts. And I don't like the idea of fooling with software parameters and potentially bricking my car.

I do not believe the 2016 X3 35i is equipped with ASD.

While the TIS description is helpful in locating ASD components, it is a general description not specific to the X3. Most of the complaints I have read regarding ASD relate to the X3 M40i or the M3 or M4, which use simulated engine sounds played through the audio system. As the TIS description reports it is only for certain BMW vehicles that "an electrical engine sound may be generated." The TIS figure illustrating the system overview is from a F10 (5 series).

My wife and I own two 2016 X3 35i vehicles. I have not observed any engine sounds playing through the audio system in either of my X3 vehicles. The engine noise is much louder if I crack open a window. If ASD is present in the 2016 X3 35i, it appears subtle in my experience.

A 2018 article (link below) on engine sound enhancement states in part:
"A company spokesman confirmed the system continues to spread throughout the BMW lineup, and is now found in certain 3, 4, and 5 Series cars, most of the performance-enhanced M models, the i8 hybrid sports car—which uses it most notably to help jack up the aggressiveness of its modest three-cylinder engine that charges the car’s battery—and the X3 M40i, X4 M40i, and X6 50i SUVs."
