My week 31 scheduled build entered production one week early. It's on the boat now crossing the Atlantic bound for Bremerhaven. I was expecting an end of September delivery here in Italy, but it looks like I'll have it the first half of September. That boat can't cross the Atlantic fast enough!

Mine took a long time; my sales center's allocation was further down the line and they didn't mention that when I placed the order
....it was stuck in order received from July 16th until August 9th or so...then it went to scheduled for production. And today it went to production begins August 21st....I called BMW Genius and they said it'll be completed by 9/3 and then it'll be about 1-2 weeks to arrive in Los Angeles from the factory on the east coast. Fingers crossed everything goes according to plan.

Thanks for the fast response. What color did you end up going with, inside and out?

Looks like we're gonna be litter mates! I hadn't checked in a while but after seeing your post thought I'd look again, and sure enough, VIN provided and entered the production queue.

Ha! Did you call in to BMW Genius to get further details? Like finishing day etc? Btw, what color interior did you choose?

Indeed - Genius indicated completion date around 31 Aug 2019, so suspect we're on the same line.

Our build is BSM with black Merino and CFRP interior trim. Like onfireX5, we will not have the moon roof (got M Driver's pkg) nor the spare (ordered the Mobility kit). It'll be the big brother to our 2019 G01 X3 M40i which is also BSM with black vernasca. Will try to take some good side-by-side pictures when it arrives.

In the same boat, although not sure when the status flipped to Production Begins (I just happened to check this morning) - originally told week 36, so this is about a week early. Pretty damn exciting! Blue/Orange, ticked every box I could.

I did have a question for ya'll - when I placed the order, the dealer wanted $1k down, which makes sense. However I was also told that when production began, they'd need an additional $4k deposit? For several reasons I'm beginning to think that's just BS (namely, it's showing as beginning production and I haven't given 'em an extra $4k) but figured I'd ask what other's experiences are!

My dealer here in TX didn't ask for anything down at any time. I thought that was weird, but I'm good with that.

Congratulations on your production bump as well, spasticthinker. I think the Dealership requirements for deposit(s) will be highly individualized, most likely based on their relationship/history with you. This will be our 13th BMW purchase with this Dealership so no deposit was requested (although I offered). Looking forward to seeing some images when delivered.

I didn't have to put down a single cent. In fact in California deposits are refundable anyway by law. Sounds as if the sales center you're working with anticipates they could not sell your special order if you decide not to purchase at the time it arrives. I've never heard of the practice of increased deposits when production begins; I have heard some charging the $1k deposit on placing the order but returning the money if you reject the special order.
