Things you hate about your X3

So far I love this vehicle. I've had so much enjoyment driving it and discovering all the hidden features and tricks it has. But I have some complaints.

1. The autozoom feature during navigation is awful. It zooms out way to far. I've had to leave it in manual zoom. Hopefully Bmw fixes this in an update.

2. Can't receive text in a $60,000 vehicle??? I've read that this can easily be enabled but with so many other cars that do this including my previous, this should be standard.

3. Wind noise seems to be excessive.

4. No track forward or reverse on the steering wheel. This should be on every wheel. Luckily I was able to assign a gesture to do this.

5. No spare really limits my choice of tires when they need to be replaced. Will have to stick with rft's.

6. No remote start feature. Could have at least given the ability to turn on the rear defrost, heated seated and heated steering wheel from the app.

Now the list of things I love would be obnoxiously long so I'll end it here. What's on your hate list?

Just the arch gap, but I’m sorting that soon!

There is track forward/back on the steering wheel, it’s the roller on the right!

Ehhhh. I know what you're saying but it's a two step process. Not the worst but a simple push button option would have been great. What's the arch gap?

It’s better than a push button, you can scroll through the tracks.

The wheel arch gap, i.e. high SUV suspension.

Other than getting a good bit of road noise in the cabin (I think the 21s are a little noisy), and feeling like the exhaust can be a little more droney than I would like at times I have no complaints so far. I don’t notice stuff like text messaging, or really even care if it can accept phone calls, I put my phone on the arm rest unless I specifically need it or arrive at my destination. Driving is one of the few times
I have peace, don’t need it ruined with text messages and phone calls.

Definitely the headliner/pano roof rattle that I can’t seem to locate. Beyond that I love everything about it so far.

Just passed the 1,000 mile mark and so far no complaints. The real test will probably come when we take our first road trip in it during the summer but so far in my 44 mile daily commute, I'm loving it!

comfort seats with ventilation lack support and not comfortable for BMW.
Choice of interior colors not sufficient.

1. Never noticed
2. I receive all text just fine via CarPlay. You must use Android?
3. Never noticed
4. The scroll function is infinitely more useful than just track skip
5. You should have ordered the spare option, it’s like $300
6. I guess this is good? GM cars have had it for 10+ years, always seemed like a waste of gas to me. I live in Texas, so I suppose I don’t need this?

My only gripe: no auto-stop/start when in Sport Mode. If the M3/M4 can do ASS in any mode, why can’t an X3?

1) There is no indicator if the steering wheel heater is on
2) No remote start
3) Need to manually turn fog lights on every time
4) Little blue light up by the moonroof controls is distracting at night
5) ASD / Drone in sport mode on highway
6) No digital speed (XX MPH) display without HUD
7) Cup holders feel far away from driver in consol

I gave up after I felt like I was nit picking. All that said above, this is definitely the nicest car I’ve ever owned. Power delivery is amazingly smooth.

My X3 is the best car that i've owned so far. I might like certain things or features to improve in ways that I prefer, but I would NOT go so far as I 'hate' anything.

i enjoy every minute driving this fine vehicle

You can code both of these. There's an option to put a small digital speed inside of the speedometer.

5. You can pull fuse 218 in the rear cargo area. There is a fuse box located behind the compartment on the right-hand side, under the sound proofing that's in there. This will remove ASD without the need to do any coding. Should be a yellow 20 amp fuse.

6. Switching to Sport+ mode also enables a digital speedometer.

Wind noise is little bit too much.
It's not excessive but it's there.

Very little wind noise from driver side mirror or door seal around A pillar.
(wife couldn't notice it yet. lol)

Other than that, it's a fantastic car.

I hate when you are on a call and mute the mic, you can't leave the mic button highlighted, the end call button will default. In my old 4 Series, I could mute the mic and leave the mute button highlighted to unmute/mute with ease. I have hung up numerous times when in conference calls because the mute button can't stay highlighted.

I dislike when listening to a song via bluetooth from my phone, I take a call, hangup and then the song restarts from the beginning. It's only annoying because 95% of the calls I take in the car only last an average of 15 seconds.

Can't really think of anything else and I'm not going to think too hard because I love my car lol

  1. ASD (I used a bypass harness to get rid of it, but BMW should have included an option in the iDrive to allow turning ASD on/off).
  2. ASS (coded this off, but BMW should have included an option in the iDrive to remember last ASS status).
  3. Water dripping from side mirrors and rear spoiler for half an hour after finished washing the car.
  4. A little waterfall straight into the trunk if it's raining and the trunk door is fully opened (seriously, which idiot designed the door?)
  5. No aux-in port.
  6. No USB port under the center armrest unless equipped with the wireless charging option (and dealers don't seem to know this).
  7. Inability to hide the speed limit in the HU display. (I like it in the dash, but don't want it in the HU. The only way to get rid of it is to select "Reduced" HU, which will also stop displaying navigation and messages.)
