Happened to me 3 times now. The first two caught just the tire sidewall. The 3rd caught the rim. Luckily my dealer fixed it for $106. Looks like new.

245/35/21 front tiress???

Edited:

Anyone consider running 265/40/21 up front and 295/35/21 in rear? You can buy ALL 4 tires off tirerack from Vredstien for $953.00!!! Good reviews too.

265/40 measures at 29.3 within +3% range of 28.7
295/40 measures at 29.1 within +3% range of 28.5 (recommend rim width is 10" and rears are 9.5)

Hi Lux700 - I see you have Pirelli tyres on your 21" alloy wheels. Did you get these as part of the delivery of your car or have you installed them after receiving the car?

I have an X3 M40i on order and now wondering if I'll get the Pirelli tyres or the Bridgestone Alenza's like many others have gotten from their factory orders??

Mine came this spring with the Alenzas, so far very happy with them.

I was worried about getting 21" alloys ... but took the chance ... and absolutely love them !
The look, the ride, all great. I actually prefer the ride to the 20" ... not a lot different but a nicer ride than my M240i convertible on 18's !!!

I am actually thinking of getting a set in that same size in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S in 255/40 & 295/35. Just wondering if going extra 20 mm is too much for a 9.5" wheel

Anyone UK based looking to do a deal to swap their ferric grey 19" wheels for my 21" 726M OEM sport style diamond cut alloys? I'm looking for smaller set so I can fit winter tyres.
Thanks

Can dealer order P-Zeros instead of Alenza on 21" with custom build?

You get what you get - the dealer doesn't even know until the car arrives from the factory.

Love the look of the 21's on my 2020 M40i, and absolutely no complaints on drive characteristics. But, my one and only complaint about the car is that the 21" Alenzas cannot traverse a pothole without splitting.

I'm <2 months in and currently waiting on my 3rd tire to be replaced (thankful for Discount Tire certificates) due to potholes. Not sure if the Pirelli's are any more durable. I may switch to those next time this happens (probably next month at the current incident rate).

My advice, if you live in a land of pristine streets, get the 21's - they're beautiful...and get the BMW tire package. Otherwise, go with 20's or 19's.

If I custom built now, I'd probably do the stock 19" wheels. If it weren't a lease, I'd downsize. I'm considering getting a 19" rim with a 225/55 tire just to use as a spare for the 2-3 days it takes to order an Alenza 21. First world problems.

I had a smart repair done on mine and when I picked it up I couldn't tell where it had been repaired and I'm ultra critical.

How do you clean yours? Mine get covered in tar and I was it every week! Seems hard work to keep clean. They look great when they have been cleaned.

They are a pain to clean, but Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel is the best wheel cleaner I've used, a set of wheel woolies to clean the barrels, a soft detailing brush for the faces and a monkey mitt seems to do the trick. The best bit is the monkey mitt, someone recommended one and I have to say it's been really good.

+1 to BH and wheel woolies. Ceramic coating wheels makes cleaning a doddle

Lots of M40i with adaptive suspension talk & 21s, but any thoughts on how a standard 30i with 18" would ride when switched out with 21s? Thinking of making the jump...

Ditto here. <1.5 years old already on my 3rd front tire due to potholes and bulges. Its bullshit.

Mine is a 30d with adaptive suspension and ride is very smooth in comfort and adaptive mode, no complains about that, even in SPORT+ mode is quite fine so don't be afraid about making the jump, the X3 looks much better with 21"
