No ECU Tampering or Opening for OBD Patch... Correct, some pins from the tool from what I saw is connected, its not an easy procedure but it doesn't take long as the guys who did my car have done over 15 S58 Bench + BM3 .

Recently heard a local friend his M340 wouldn't turn on because a shop bent 1 of his pins, so had to go back to drawing board and trace the bent pin. So definitely don't take it anywhere without the proper tool.

You can either ship your ECU or if you're local can drive to them or they can drive to you as they done it before to some customers that have garage bay.

Not sure if this question has been ask, but I'm debating between a comp and non-comp X3m. Is the power gain of the X3MC better than non-comp with BM3?

Both versions have the same potential with BM3.

A local dealership has a competition model but doesn't have executive package or heads up display. They have a non-comp model with exec package and HUD. Same price but I want the HUD and the camera accessories.

If power gain advantage with competition model, I can go without HUD.

Take the non-comp. BM3 flashing comp vs. non-comp will give you the same final result.

Anyone get a custom tune? The OTF tune is a nice improvement over stock for sure but I'm looking to improve the initial take off. If not using launch control there is such a delay if you punch it from a stop. I know it needs to build boost but it just goes nowhere for a second.

I had a custom tune off a dyno (had). Now I run BM3. There is nothing you can do to my knowledge to change this engine under 2,700 rpm. After that, it's game on.

I have high flow catted downpipes. Very high flow compared to stock. 200 cell per inch vs 600 stock. It's just enough to not need to recode the primary cat sensor. On dyno no change below 2, 700 compared to stock cars. This goes for tunes too where the high flow cats or catless setups do begin to significantly deviate from stock power curves . BMW designed the S58 to be run hard above this 2.7k threshold. Anything below that is just plain Prius......If that doesn't suit your driving style, I reccomend going B58 instead.

Thanks for the info/clarity. Besides some ppf, ceramic coating, painted reflectors (and a debadge) my truck is stock. While I will eventually modify it with downpipes and bootmod stage 2, I'm having a blast driving it as is. In sport and sport plus, 2600/2700 RPM comes fast and then it pulls like hell.

If it were me, I'd go ahead and get BM3 and run a stage one tune for now which is a huge jump compared to stock. My next phase would be the downpipes. You'll get an additional increase in power, albeit not as drastic as that increase from that initial jump with BM3. It will sound better too. Get the BM3 "pack" upgrade then which allows you to move to a stage 2 high flow or catless tune. This is what I would do if I had to do it in phases and prioritized performance over sound.

Saw this, thought id share. All in one BM3 Agent. There are many DIYs out there to do this but this is already built. Only concern is maybe kicking it.

They already have the app but using a phone requires a hardware in between and that piece of hardware requires a power cable and the OBD Enet cable. This solution allows you to get rid of both of those cables.

Moff, to connect your phone you need to buy this obd wifi device from them.

they are but i haven't seen any info on ETA - seems like they just got it working and were building up the hype. it could be 6 months from now who knows. Since im looking for this now it seemed cool! I actually just built my own BM3 agent for $60. I wanted to use the latest Raspberry PI4, but didn't want to mess with it too much to make sure it's working. Raspberry Pi3 B (NON- B+) is working great and added a switch on the 12v ODB power like the link.

So, I've bought the Bootmod license and I'm debating Whether to flash stage 1/93 myself or take it to a shop. Any input would be appreciated.

Do it yourself, it is really easy. Follow the instructions here and you're set.
