brakes

In the 2020 x4m's (and x3m), do the brakes squeel? All my previous M's have this problem. I hard on this years models it's gone away. But just wondering.

Thanks

Mine only squeal when damp/wet and going in reverse. Like after a car wash.

Other than that, I have not heard a peep out of them but I do drive with the windows closed for the most part.

Bedding can help reduce/eliminate squeal. I plan to do this after my break in service as I have done on all my vehicles or anytime I install new pad/rotors.

I've been getting the low speed squeal as well. My Cayenne did the same thing, so I guess I'm used to it.

Mine do infrequently at low speeds. It's pretty rare overall.

This is a common -non- issue with high performance brakes of similar design/composition.

Use them harder, apply more pressure more frequently and they are generally very quiet. Gentle braking makes them squeal.

Years ago on my 991 911, I mentioned this to the service advisor. He told be to do the above and it was the spot on solution.

Most owners’ manual specifically address this issue. It’s inherent in the design, the flaw is the drivers habits.

Hope this helps.

As above I have always done hard braking on a regular basis and I've never had noise issues on any car with Brembo or other large brakes. In my EVO days I recall a lot of owners complaining about Brembo noise but I never had the issue. Never had noise issues on my M2 and the only time I get any brake noise out of my X3M is after a car wash or going in reverse as noted a few posts above. During normal driving quiet like any other vehicle.

Mine squeal at low speeds and sometimes in reverse but I bought an M car. I would be much more upset if the brakes were noisy and didn't stop well. 😎
