Known defect; I have same year car, did the DIY repair at 50K mike mark, Spongrez glue (surfers use it) and clamp overnight- new door is way too pricey.

I have the usual concerns about the chain guides..It has never been driven it in eco pro mode (a contributing factor apparently to chain guide failure)...I personally mainly use sport mode when I'm behind the wheel. |

I know the job appears straight forward... but.... is there any guides/tutorials out there for this? |

Has anybody had any issues with their sunroof leaking?
I've read somewhere that it was a common problem on the X3's. For this reason, I don't use the sunroof as much as I want to. |

I'm kind of surprised that nobody here has replied with an N20 that has >100k on it.
Not a great sign. |

There are not many active X3 owners on this forum- a lot more on the sedan forums.
Reason is I think there are lot fewer people doing their own service/repairs on SAV compared to sedans. |

The wife's 2017 X3 (N55) M-Sport is holding up pretty well at 42k miles. We've only had to perform basic maintenance services. Warranty on the vehicle recently ended so now I'm having to track my own maintenance intervals.
Just added a Dinantronics Sport Tuner for a little extra boost but so far, so good on her vehicle. Wgosma, you're right on that the X3 forum is significantly quieter than the sedan forums. I frequently jump straight to the F10 forums and occasionally check the F25 forums (only when I remember about it lol) |

I used gorilla glue on my door. It was just one side, so I used a couple vise grip c clamps. It has just been a couple months, so I'm waiting to see if the fix holds up.

My 2011 X3 28i that I purchased brand new has done okay so far. Not up to Japanese car standards, that's for sure. In its life i have replaced the combox, coolant expansion tank twice due to leaking, a/c evaporator due to leaking, all 4 door seals due to discoloring, glove box door due to separation, rear hatch button which fell apart, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, belt and belt tensioner, and lately various buttons and panels in the interior have started peeling which i have been replacing as needed. Also, there is cracking in the drivers seat leather that i have not addressed yet. Car currently has 113,000 miles and i am religious about maintenance. I very much like the car and would like to keep it at least 7 more years.

2017 and newer BMWs come with a 3 year 36,000 mile scheduled maintenance plan as standard. Therefore he would be out of maintenance but still under new vehicle warranty.

Did they fix the delaminating glove box issue at some point for the F25? My wife's 2016 has about 70k miles and the glove box looks good as new.
The only issue we've had (we bought it CPO with 51k miles) has been the replacement of both lift cylinders on the liftgate. They were making a groaning sound when the liftgate first opened. Used the CPO warranty and paid $50 deductible. The vehicle overall though looks, feels, and sounds like near new. Holding up extremely well. Last edited by bpwj76; 12-13-2019 at 09:39 AM.. |

You might have a while to go before replacement. Personally, it's kinda wild, I've never seen a set of runflats last so long. |

I have a 2013 X3 with N20 engine that's got 93K miles on it, I had valvetronic motor, valve cover gasket, turbocharger replaced so far. When I was doing valvetronic motor replacement I saw the timing chain guide had a little crack on the tab. 2015 models should last longer since timing chain guide was redesigned.

And honestly, I'm not a big horsepower freak either, I used to ride sportbikes when I was younger and now everything feels slow. Good power delivery and a dialed suspension is much more important to me. And reliability. I don't have time to fix stuff all the time. |
