Sport seats - do the headrests tilt?
As per the title, have only tried the standard seats and the headrests seemed quite far from the back of my head. Tried to tilt them forward, but they wouldn't budge. Just wondering if anyone with sports seats can let me know if they tilt forward, or if they're fixed (other than height adjustment, of course)
Thanks. |

Actually the headrests do tilt, but only under certain crash conditions. There's a small pyrotechnic charge in the headrest that releases a tensioned spring, causing the headrest to move closer to the head. From the owner's manual:
Active head restraint In the event of a rear-end collision with a certain severity, the active head restraint automatically reduces the distance from the head. Last edited by 02420X3; 08-01-2012 at 09:47 PM.. |

I wouldn't want them any closer than they are. All the new cars have head restraints that are much more forward due to the new highway traffic safety regs. I personally couldn't stand driving them...I couldn't put my head back enough to feel comfortable while driving. The X3 was a relief from that. The Acura RDX was the worst. I wish they made them adjustable to the limit of safety.
