Experience of Bridgestone Blizzards?

Managed to track down 19” wheels but seem to only come with the Bridgestone winter run flats - size 245 50 19.

Reviews seem mixed. Was wondering if the Continental Wintercontacts run flats (same sizes) may be a better option? But for some reason, wheel guy says “they are not compatible _ only Bridgestones approved”.

Im struggling to see whey they can’t be used?

But won’t be a problem if Bridgestone preform ok.

Used them a lot. Wheels not on their site yet; I’ve been emailing them.

Seem to get exact size as BMW approved wheels and claim they come from same factory as BMW ones.

Wheels 8x19 ET30 no spacers required. Wheels take original bolts and do not require rings – these also take the OE BMW caps. Guaranteed fitment.

They offer package with TPMS and all balanced. About £1.6k all in. Seems good to me. Would just have preferred Continental tyres.

I've had a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks and a set of Pirelli Winter Sottozero on different BMWs and I would rate the Blizzaks better in snow. I don't have any experience with Continental DWS.

As for the tyres, I’ve found blizzaks better than sottozeros but not as good as Contis or nokians.
Even nankang sv2 are as good as the Pirelli’s.

I have the Continental Extremewintercontacts on my 235, obviously not the same, but they've been great tires. I picked them because we get a lot of snow, but it doesn't stay on the roads for long. I didn't want Blizzaks or full blown snows that are so-so on dry pavement but excel on snow and ice when it's dry 90% of the time.

Quick update. Thanks for the feedback.

Wheels now ordered and should be with me in a couple of weeks - well in advance of winter!

I will share some pictures of them when I get them.

Interestingly, after last year’s harsh winter here in the UK, i have had feedback from a couple of sellers that stock is selling fast.

Guarantee of no snow this here!

Does your insurance company require you to advise of any mods, most, I believe, class winter wheels as mods and some do not like wheels other than manufacturers options. It astonishes me that a safety related change can be questioned.

I have used winter wheels for years now and always got a very good used price for oem wheels meaning that the “cost of ownership” is not bad especially taking into account reduced wear on Summer tyres and a bit less chance of damage (more likely on My former M3 with the devils wheels).

Yes - I have to tell insurance company. They charge for winter tyres and different alloys!

This is actually my 4th set of winter wheels. I have sold on all my previous sets at good prices. They are a luxury, but the cost of ownership is lower as there is still a value in the used wheels. They sell quickly here in Scotland!

Some pictures of the new wheels. Even though drop of size from 20 to 19", overall circumference is bigger. Will add BMW cap badge (same size as current car) later.

Propped wheels up against current one to give you idea. Not the greatest pictures!!!

May be of interest to somebody.

I have blizzaks for all three of my cars on dedicated wheels. Wouldn't drive in the PNW winters without them. I get thru snow and ice with no problems at all. These are really sticky tires in cold conditions.
