As far as installation, it's pretty easy. I watched a couple of YouTube videos. Just type in search avinusa installation and you will see a few to choose from. It is all plug and play no cutting wires. I would look for bmwdiyguy. He is very thorough. As far as options I went with the DVR forward and rear facing cameras. I just hot spot through my Samsung Galaxy 50 phone. The system is great you can add any apps you want. If you have kids they can watch a movie if you want. Let me know how you make out

How's the phone call quality. Do you need an external mic to make it work?

No because you use your existing BMW bluetooth you don't lose any quality at all
