Going on wet should allow you to slide it around and get the placement of it just right. Make sure to take photos once it's on 😊

DO NOT do the wet method. This type of vinyl is not meant for wet application. It's more of a sticker. Just make sure you go slowly and use a heat gun if you end up stretching the vinyl from pulling the edges. Good luck!

I've put M-performance stripes on a couple friends cars and they were all wet applications. Does it come with an application film or transfer paper on the front of the decal? If so, it should be applied wet. And actually, any vinyl can be applied wet as long as you have the transfer layer on the front. Even that is not critical but it will protect the decal while working and prevent stretching. Transfer paper can be purchased separately and applied to decals that don't come with it. Sometimes we have to make custom multi-piece or multi-color decals and manually put the transfer paper on top.

This is my experience with the decal installs. I took my M Performance rocker decals on my F30 to 2 different vinyl shops and both messed up the install with the wet method. Both shops concluded that the dry method would be better since the vinyl has a strong adhesive like a sticker. So I bought a third set and decided to install it myself using the dry method and I installed it perfectly. I had to go very slow, but it was worth the effort.

I installed the film on my G01 X3 using the same dry method and it turned out perfectly as well.

There is a film on the topside but it's not really transfer paper. It's attached very strongly to the film itself so if you wet apply and try to peel it off the protective paper, it will surely take the vinyl right off of the car.

That's just my experience with the BMW vinyls.

side strip update

I just did this to mine and have mixed feelings. I wanted to add the German flag colors while covering the "M Performance " but maybe it's too much? I really like the splash of color. Have done something similar to other cars in the past including my 911 on the rocker.

Any thoughts and/or comments?

I'm not feeling it on the X3. Looks good on the 911.

Love it on the Porsche. Not feeling it at all on the X3.

I agree with the others. I think that there are too many colors going on now and it clashes. But it does look great on the Porsche.

I don't mind, but perhaps the exterior appearance is tad bit over the top for wife, thinking will change the image just a bit ...

Perhaps i should have just stuck with similar, subtle stripes at similar place in X3, hmm...

Hard to tell from this photo aside from the fact that I don't have those decals. On my other decal set there was a separate sheet for each side of the car.

I'm coming up on my 13th birthday, so I needed to act fast. I'm positive my car's got at least 5hp more power now. And oh, the junior high school girls think my stripes are groovy.

Well then you rock it big boy, 'cos soon you'll be wearing long pants and before you know it you'll be growing hair in places you weren't expecting and your voice will change. Then the fun care free days will be behind you and you'll have to deal with the responsibilities of being an adult.

It's always good to remember to keep a sense of humor on these boards.
