Thanks for sharing, Jason, and kudos to the graphic design team who produced the earlier renderings.
Hope our Competition will have a CFRP aero roof, weight at or below our G01 M40i, and 500HP+. I apologize for the rudimentary attempt at conceptualizing an aero roof on this image, but the weight savings, CG-lowering effects, and potential aerodynamic advantages (must have as used on the M5) are begging for one. Could the designers show us an image of a CF roof on the Donington Grey? https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showt...g=1849&slide=0 |

Not to cannibalize X4 M40 sales. There was an internal argument between BMW AG and BMW M regarding the B58 engine to be finalized, so M division could engineer the S58. Was told this directly from a M engineer responsible for the X3M/X4M.

Seems like a missed opportunity for those with moonroof deletions, but without an Aerodynamics background unsure how it might actually influence Cd x A. Not as simple as thinking ‘if it helps the F90, why wouldn’t it help the larger and taller F97’, I know, but appeared a plausible extension of the concept. Any idea if we can expect at least a basic CF roof in the Competition model?

sorry I made a mistake and I was referring to the clusters. those are the "old" one as seen in the actual M5, compared to the new live cockpit professional that are found on the Z4, X5, 8 serie, and 7 LCI. it was supposed that MY2020 X3 & X4 was getting it in July '19. Next Gen M3/M4 spotted by CarMagazine UK showed that the mule was having the new live cockpit professional.

if you travel back in the past, you will notice that those rims refer to the X4 concept showed around the world, before the X4 F26 came to life.

Was going to say the same thing - I hate the other digital design with the tach going the wrong way.

Conversely, the fresher models (8er, X5, X7, 3er...) have been getting the Live Cockpit but they yet have to spawn their M versions, which you can be sure will also have a tachometer going the 'wrong' way |

At least this digital dash has a proper rev counter that rotates like it should.
That other one is just a big fail for symmetry.

Probably we may have some hopes. I remember that on the F26 X4, when the M40i came on the market, it was only 54hp more than the regular 35i and they achieved to be quicker of 0.6sec on 0 to 100km/h. Today M40i (EU Spec) has 354hp still makes 4.9sec 0 to 100km/h, the X4M is excepted to be 474hp & 650nm around 120hp and 150 Nm more. So they are hopes that the X3M and X4M will already play in the 3.8/4.0s zone and the competition ones in a quicker zone. That will confirm the speech of the CEO of BMW M last year = Setting a new Benchmark in this segment. |
