07 x3 shuts down randomly- please help
Hello all,
The other morning my 2007 x3 suddenly started jerking while driving and while stopped it feels like someone hits you from behind (feels like the car wants to take off even though you have the brakes on) It also stalls out while at a complete stop randomly, does not happen every time just randomly. I do hear the clicking from the bottom of the car when i turn the car off although i have heard this for a while with no issues. I purchased the car used about a year ago and has about 100k miles (no current warranty). The only mods i have recently made is adding a aftermarket alarm and replacing one of the coils (#1) could it be a faulty coil?, i figure it cant be the alarm because there was no issue right after i got it installed. could it be the battery? it is fairly new, less than 6 months old. i cleaned the MAF sensor and did not notice improvement. can someone please give me some advice on what to check for next ? thank you also- no check engine light Last edited by LAdodgers84~!; 09-17-2018 at 07:40 PM.. Hope you figured out your issues. As for the clicking noise you are hearing, this diy video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_S8VP4CVho from Bentley Publishers will help you fix that.

I had a similar problem while waiting in traffic back in the summer. I took it to a few mechanics (and a dealer) and nobody could figure it out. Then I found my current indy who pretty much immediately knew it was the engine ground strap...he changed it and it hasn't happened since. Apparently it was almost completely corroded. Super cheap and easy fix
